Ayan - Ayan in Vedic Astrology - Meaning of Ayan

Nadivritt and Krantivritt cross each intersect at 2 points which is the Sampat Bindu. These two points are also called Ayan. Days and nights become equal when the Sun falls at these 2 points. These 2 points are retrograde in motion. The equinox of Sharad Sampat is moving backwards from its previous point so it’s known as retrograde. This means that Ayan equinox is moving westwards.

According to astrology, the previous location of this Sampat Bindu is said to start from Revati Nakshatra. But according to zodiac, Sampat Bindu is said to start from the initial point of Aries. The annual movement of this Sampat Bindu is known as Ayan.

Wherever Ayan is used it is known as Sayan(moving planet). In Niryan, the origin of Sampat Bindu is said to begin from the point before still Aries. Ayan is not used here, hence Niryan is called a still zodiac.

The movement of this Sampat is called Aynansh. One complete cycle of this Sampat is completed in 25868 years. Due to this reason, it takes 72 years to move one degree. Ayan moves at a speed of 50 Vikla in a year.
