Remedies for Malefic Ketu
What is Ketu:
Ketu is linked with Ganesha the firstborn child of the universe and consequently, seers saw it as the eldest planet. Even in our Vedic Dasha system, it is the starting point. It is the beginning and end of all things. Ketu is also represented by a banner or a flag. Ketu is the same as Mars.
It can be said that Ketu's domain begins where the domain of Mars ends. Ketu is a planet of revenge and vengeance but the difference is that the anger of Mars is temporary but Ketu never forgets and hold grudges for a long period of time. Ketu may not give results similar to Mars during its Dasha or transit.
You can consider performing remedies if you want positive results from Ketu. Let's see how to overcome ill-effects of Ketu through these remedies.
Remedies:
As discussed earlier Ketu's presiding deity is Lord Ganesha. Propitiating him is the best way to ward off malefic aspects of Ketu. He can be propitiated by reciting the following mantra
“ Om Shri Ganeshaya Namah”
This should be chanted 108 times and be done every Tuesday or Thursday. Sage Prashara had suggested chanting the Mantra for Ketu 17,000 times. This mantra for Ketu should be chanted 108 times in one sitting unless otherwise indicated.
While reciting mantra one should sit with face towards the south-western direction. It is advisable to have an image of the Lord Ganesha in front while reciting.
Ketu rules the sense of smell and dogs have the strongest sense of smell. Dogs also have the power to see the spirits and other creatures of the astral realm. Hence we should serve dogs as a remedy to offset the negative traits of Ketu.
Bathe Using the Products Related to Ketu
Put Kusha in the bathing water and bathe with it. You should perform this remedy in the early morning on Tuesday. Meditate on the Lord Ketu while performing the remedy. It will increase the auspiciousness of Ketu and will yield better results. If you perform this remedy for the entire period of Dasha then it will reduce your problems.
Donate Products of Ketu
You should donate products of Ketu to get favourable results. You can donate a black or blue blanket, wool and mustard oil on Saturday. If you are unable to donate all these products then you can donate only mustard oil. Donate these products as per your capabilities and do not borrow money for donation.
Mantra of Ketu
The Mantra of Ketu is
"Om Ketum Karnavann Ketave Peshomayyam Apeshase, Samushdwirajaythah".
You can chant this Mantra 108 times or more than 108 times to get good results. You should have full faith in Ketu while chanting the Mantra. Do not think negative during recitation and chant with the full concentration to reap beneficial results. Obey the rules of Mantra to get relief from the malefic influence of Ketu.
Yantra of Ketu
Ketu helps to beat enemies and protect a person from impediments. Wearing or worshipping Ketu's Yantra reduces the malefic effects of Ketu during Dasha or transit. Write 14, 9, 16 in the first three partitions; 15, 13, 11 in the middle three partitions and 10, 17 and 12 in the last three partitions.
Herbs, fruits, scents and oils:
Herbs like basil, bayberry, sage, juniper can be used for increasing the positivity of Ketu All vegetables growing beneath the soil like groundnut, ginger, radish, saffron increase the energy of Ketu. Donating these food items help to reduce the ill effects of Ketu.
Ketu is also associated with horse gram. Feeding horse gram to birds and other animals is a way of propitiating Ketu. Among oils, Ketu is more associated with castor and sesame oils. Aromatic oils like camphor and cedar are also good for controlling the energy of Ketu.
Fragrances of flowers which fall under Ketu’s domain increases Ketu's energy. Cooling aromas like skullcap and passionflower can be used for controlling the negative energy of Ketu. Sandalwood is the most ideal for cooling the irritable energy of Ketu.
Colours and Clothing:
Using earthy Ketu colours help in warding off Ketu's energy. Donating earthy coloured clothes and striped clothes in charity will also help in warding off Ketu’s negative energy.
Gems:
Cat's eye is the gem for Ketu. It should be cast in Ashtadhatu or in silver or bronze. The other gems suitable are Turquoise, Tiger’s eye. The ring should be worn in little finger on Tuesday. Gemstone for Ketu should be worn only after careful consideration.
It should be worn only when Ketu is Yogkaraka in Kundali. The stone can be tested by keeping it under the pillow for a few days. If it works, will increase the positive side of Ketu, but if you feel some negative results then it should be removed immediately.
Ketu’s Symbol:
Ketu’s symbol is a serpent head on a human body, Another image is that of arms holding mace, an arrow and a flag and the hands gesturing as giving blessings. Ketu’s symbol can be worshipped just like its Yantra to ward off the ill effects of Ketu.
Lal Kitab Remedies:
- Drop one earth coloured flower in the river for 47 days
- Feed street dogs for 47 days.
- Donate striped blankets
- Get your ears or nose pierced
- Offer a dry coconut in a flowing river for a few days.
- Serve your paternal grandmother or maternal grandfather.
There are other remedial measures for Ketu’s placement in different houses in Kundali
- Ketu in first house: donate articles relating to Saturn like iron, black dog, black horse, black cow.
- Ketu in the second house: apply sandalwood tilak on forehead.
- Ketu in the third house: wear gold, apply haldi tilak and offer yellow flowers in a river.
- Ketu in the fourth house: donate gold or yellow items in a temple.
- Ketu in the fifth house: donate items related to Mars such as red coral stone, red cloth, red flowers, red sandalwood.
- Ketu in the sixth house: wear a gold ring in the left hand.
- Ketu in seventh house: be open in communication.
- Ketu in the eighth house: donate black and white blanket in a temple.
- Ketu in the ninth house: wear gold chain in neck.
- Ketu in the tenth house: one should have control over his character.
- Ketu in the eleventh house: donate radish to the poor in a temple.
- Ketu in the twelfth house: keep a dog in the house.
