The objective of the Punsavan Sanskara is to give some good qualities to the child. These qualities will help him to be a constructive part of the society. These qualities will help him as well as his surroundings to prosper. This Sanskara should be performed after three months of pregnancy because the mind of foetus develops after three months.

These qualities will help him as well as his surroundings to prosper. This Sanskara should be performed after three months of pregnancy because the mind of foetus develops after three months.

According to the beliefs, the learning process of the child begins in mother’s womb. For example, Abhimanyu, who was the son of Arjuna, had learned the solution of Chakravyahyu in the womb of his mother Draupadi.

Vedic astrology suggests some auspicious Muhurutha for this Sanskara which are as follows.

Nakshatra

As per astrology, this ritual should be performed on the day when Mrigshira, Pushya, Moola, Shravan, Punarvasu, Hast, Rohini, Uttarafalguni, Uttarashadha or Uttarabhadrapad Nakshatra is present. These Nakshatras are auspicious for Punsavan Sanskara.

Tithis

Consideration of Tithi is also important. Jyotish says that the Pratipada, second, third, fifth, seventh, tenth, eleventh and thirteenth are auspicious tithis to perform this ritual.

Day

Days are also very important for the Muhurutha of Punsvan Sanskara. Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday are auspicious for this sanskara.

Ascendant

While you determine the Muhurutha, you should also consider that auspicious planets are placed in the Kendra (1,4,7,10) and trine (5,9) and maleficent planets are placed in the third, sixth and eleventh houses of the Ascendant. The Ascendant or Navamsha of Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius are auspicious.

Caution

Astrologers say that this Sanskara should not be performed when Moon is placed in the 4th, 8th or 12th house and star is present in the 3rd, 5th or 7th house from the birth Moon.

If you consider all these principles then this position will be good for your child.
