Varahamihirira , is one of the most popular compositions of astrology. Varahamihira’s efforts gave astrology a form of science. Just the appreciation will not be enough , for the contribution he made for astrology. While living in the famous astrology city of Ujjaain , he introduced many Astrological Granthas. Even his father was a very popular astrologer of his times. He got his primary knowledge on astrology from his father only. Some of his writings are :
Varahamihira Scriptures
Panchsindhantika, Brahasthasahinta, Brijjataka, Laghujataka, Vivah Patala, Yogayatra, Samaas Sanhita ,are some of the Scriptures composed by him. Vikramaditya had 9 gems and Varahamihira is one of them. He also worked with Aryabhatta , and composed many rules of astrology .Aryabhatta was his teacher, so he learned most of astrology rules from him only. Aryabhatta formerly worked on mathematics and numbers , and he learned mathematical calculations of astrology from Aryabhatta .
Varahamihira , with his rules and principles had already explained Newton’s Theory on “Gravity Rules “ He already knew that there is an earth’s attraction force that pulls objects towards it , and he named it as Gurutwakarshana.
Varahamihira introduced 4 type of months which includes Solar Month, Lunar Month , Yearly Month, and Forthnight Month. Varahamihira’s contribution other than astrology has also been into Astronomy, and Vriksha Ayurveda.
Rishi Atri - History of Astrology
Rishi Atri is one of the 18 saints in the history of astrology. According to a mythology , Rishi Atri was given life by Brahma ji .Lord Krishna was considered to be the descendant of Saint Atri. After a long gap in generation , Lord Krishna was born in Saint Atri’s family. It also said that Brahma had 7 son’s named Saint Pulsatya, Saint Pulha, Saint Vashishtha, Saint Kaushik, Saint Marichi, Saint Kritu, Saint Narad. All these saints , contributed an important part in astrology.
These 7 sons of brahmaji , are well known as Saptrishi. In this regard there is an ancient tale. Taramandal, is used for Date, Day, Kundli making, Festival, and auspicious purposes, and used in India since ancient times.
Rishi Atri also has connections with Devi Anusuya and Rayayana , other than astrology. Ayurveda and ancient medical field will always be grateful to him. He introduced many yogas in Ayurveda. According to the ancient scriptures , Rishi Atri was born from Brahmaji’s Eyes.
Rishi Atri worked on medical based astrology . He wrote many scritures and are still of utmost importance in medical astrology.
