Chandra Dosha Kalanka Chaturthi 2024

Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha during Bhadrapad month is celebrated as Ganesha Chaturthi. Sri Ganesha Chaturthi fast is kept on this day. This year, Ganesha Chaturthi will be celebrated on 07 September 2024. It is believed that this day is associated with Lord Ganesha’s birth. Therefore, Lord Ganesha is extremely fond of this day. Even in astrology, Lord Ganesha is considered to be the Lord of Chaturthi date.

It is considered to be inauspicious to watch Moon on Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha during Bhadrapad month. This Chaturthi is also known as Kalanka Chauth. It is believed that Lord Krishna was cursed with Mithya kalanka on this day because of watching the Moon.

Kalanka Chauth Story

A person named Satrajit lives in Dwarkapuri. He was extremely devoted to Lord Sun. Lord Sun was impressed with his devotion and gave him a priceless Gem. Due to the auspicious effects of this gem, Satrajit did not fear anything and was free from all material desires. Once, Lord Krishna thought about giving a gem to King Ugrasen. Satrajit came to know about this and gave the gem to his brother, Prasen.

Prasen was killed during a hunting expedition by a Lion. Jambavant saw the gem in the Lion’s mouth and killed him to grab the gem. When the subjects of Dwarkapuri came to know about this, they thought that Lord Krishna had killed Prasen. Lord Krishna was distressed when he came to know about this and went to find out Prasen.

Lord Krishna found Prasen’s dead body, a Lion’s head and Jambavant’s footsteps. He met Jambavant and asked him about the gem. Jambavant told him his side of the story. Jambavant married his daughter, Jambavanti, to Lord Krishna and gave him the gem as a gift.

When the subjects came to know about the truth, they asked for forgiveness. Therefore, this blame was a rumour. However, even Lord Krishna was accused because he saw the Moon that day and was disrespected.

Ganesha Chaturthi Worship

Lord Ganesha is worshipped on the day of Bhadrapad Shukla Chaturthi. It is believed that Lord Ganesha was born on this day. A person should wake up early in the morning and take a bath. Then he should worship Lord Ganesha’s idol with sindoor. Laddoos should be offered to Lord Ganesha. Water should be poured in front of the Moon in the evening. However, you should not look at the Moon.

Importance of Ganesha Chaturthi Worship

A person should not watch Moon as this day because he may lose respect. This is because Moon once laughed on Lord Ganesha because of his face. Lord Ganesha was furious and cursed the Moon that whoever would watch him would be disrespected. Moon asked for forgiveness and Lord Ganesha took back his words. However, it is believed that the curse still stands for one day every year on Shukla Chaturthi in Bhadrapad month.

It is believed that a person is free from all problems if he keeps this fast. Chaturthi is an extremely auspicious day for worshipping Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha blesses a person who worships him on this day.

Haritalika Tritiya – Haritalika Tritiya 2024 – Haritalika Tritiya Fast

Haritalika fast has been mentioned in the Shastras in order to get blessings from Goddess Parvati. This year Haritalika fast will be celebrated on 06 September 2024. This fast is also known as Gauri Tritiya fast. This fast is kept on Tritiya of Shukla Paksha during Bhadrapad. A person keeping this fast is blessed by Lord Shiva as well as Goddess Parvati. This fast provides a person with success, prosperity and happiness.

Haritalika Fast Story

According to Saints, a person keeping this fast lives a prosperous life. Women keeping this fast have a happy married life. Gauri Tritiya fast has been explained in Shiva Purana. When the whole world was destroyed, fortune of the whole world went to Lord Vishnu’s residing place in Baikunth Lok.

When Lord Brahma created the world again, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu’s powers combined and a huge volcano could be seen. Due to this, Lord Vishnu’s residing place was heated and fortune started melting on Earth. However, Lord Brahma’s son Daksha Prajapati stopped the flow of fortune and drank it before it could reach Earth.

Due to this, Daksha Prajapati was blessed with a daughter. Goddess Sati is known by many different names including Gauri. Goddess Gauri was married to Lord Shiva on Tritiya of Shukla Paksha. Therefore, Gauri Tritiya fast is celebrated on this day. This fast fulfills all desires.

Haritalika Worship

A person should wake up early in the morning, take a bath and worship Goddess Parvati as well as Lord Shiva. Their idols should be given a bath with water mixed with sandalwood as well as panchagavya. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati should be worshipped with dhoop, lamps, naivedya, fruits etc. Idols made of mud are worshipped and Haritalika Teej story is read. Sindoor, bangles, kajal etc. are offered to Goddess Parvati.

Haritalika Fast Importance

Shani Amavasya – Shani Amavasya 2024 – Importance of Shani Amavasya

It is believed that worshipping Lord Saturn on the day of Shani Amavasya helps in fulfilling all the desires. In 2024, Shani Amavasya will be celebrated on Saturday. It is celebrated in the form of Pitrakaryaeshu Amavasya. It is considered to be an auspicious day to get relief from the obstacles caused due to kalsarpa yoga, dhaiyaa and sadesati.

Sri Ganesha Angarki Chaturthi 2024 – Ganesh Angarika Chaturthi

Lord Ganesha is considered to be the Lord of Chaturthi tithi. According to astrology, Lord Ganesha was born on this day. Due to this, Lord Ganesha is very fond of Chaturthi. Lord Ganesha is worshipped on Chandrodaya vyapini chaturthi of Krishna Paksha. It is believed that Lord Ganesha frees a person from all kinds of problems. A person is able to overcome all kinds of obstacles by worshipping him.

Each month’s Chaturthi is known by a different name. This year, Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha in Bhadrapad month will be celebrated as Angarki Chaturthi. This Chaturthi is known as Angarki Chaturthi because it will be celebrated on Tuesday. It is considered to be very auspicious if Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday. A person is blessed if he keeps a fast on this day. Keeping a fast on Angarki Chaturthi gives results which are equivalent to fasting on all Chaturthi during a year.

Angarki Ganesha Chaturthi Story

Sri Ganesha Angarki Chaturthi – Fast and Worship

Lord Ganesha is worshipped prior to worshipping any other Deva. He is considered to free a person of all problems. Lord Ganesha is the Lord of intelligence. A person who keeps a fast on this day is able to fulfill all his desires. His intellectual ability is also enhanced. Lord Ganesha is very fond of Chaturthi tithi. A person keeping this fast should wake up early and take a bath. Then he should take some water and druva in his hand and worship the following mantra :“Mam Savra Karma Siddheya Siddhi Vinayak Pujanmaham Karishye”

After this, an idol of Lord Ganesha made of gold, copper or mud should be established. A pot should be filled with water. It’s mouth should be covered with a cloth. The idol should be kept on this clean cloth. A person should not consume any food till he worships Lord Ganesha in the evening. Water should be poured to Lord Ganesha during Moon rise. Milk, supari, fragrance and rice are used for this. Lord Ganesha’s mantra is chanted :

Aghora Chaturdashi – Kush Grahani Amavasya – Aghora Chaturdashi Festival

Aghora Chaturdashi is celebrated on the Chaturthi Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapad. This is a two day festival and celebrated with people around the country with full faith and fervor. The first day celebration is also known as Choti Dagyali, and the second is Badi Dagyali. It is known as Kusha Grahini Amavasya or Kushoptatini Amavasya in shastras and various vedic scriptures. It is an important festival for Lord Shiva devotees.

Kushagrahani Amavasya Puja Rituals

To perform Kushpatani Amavasya puja, the grass is collected throughout the year for auspicious ceremonies. There are ten types of grass according to ancient scriptures used in puja rituals. Grass in its original form having seven leaves, dark green in colour, and without any damage is considered appropriate for worshipping the lord. While plucking the grass, the person should chant, “ Hum Phat” mantra continuously.

Tarapan ceremonies are also performed on Aghora Chaturdashi. It is believed that Shiva’s possessions get freedom on this day. People living in Solan, Sirmour and Shimla put thorny bushes on their windows to prevent bad evils.

Aghora Chaturdashi Significance

Apart from Himachal region, Aghora Chaturdasha is also celebrated in Uttarakhand, Assam, Sikkim, and Nepal. Plucking the grass on this day is considered to be auspicious. Performing holy bath, charity, donation, pitra dan. homas are considered fruitful. The person observing the fast, should wake up early in the market and worship the lord after completing daily routine. Keep a water pot beside the bunch of grass in the south direction, and offer the water to the ancestors.

Kusha Grahani Amavasya Results

Visiting pilgrimage, holy bath, homas, fast on this day gives relief from liabilities and sins to a person. This is the reason it is considered to be an auspicious day for homas and meditations.

Lord Vishnu is worshipped on this day. This fast is observed for one continuous year. It gives relief from the mental, as well as physical and financial.

Kusha Grahani Ancient Significance

Ceremonies for dead ancestor’s peace is performed on Aghor Chaturdashi. People observe fast in dedication of their dead ancestors, along with other ritual practices for the peace of their soul. As per the shastras, Pitra Deva is the lord of Amavasya tithi and hence performing deeds for in the name of ancestors is considered to be auspicious. Amavasya on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday lying on Anuradha, Vishakha or Swati Nakshatra is believed to be very pure and auspicious.

Shani Pradosh Fast 2024 – Shani Pradosh Vrat 2024 – Shani Pradosh Vrat

Pradosh fast is observed  on the 13th day of each lunar fortnight as per the traditional Hindu lunar calendar. This fast is observed on Krishna Paksha, as well as Shukla Paksha.  Pradosh kaal is the time period of 2 hours 24 minutes after the sunset. Observing fast in pradosh kaal relieves a person from all kind of restrictions and obstacles. Lord Shiva is worshipped on this day. It is believed that a person who observes this fast gets relief from all kind of troubles of life and attains salvation in the end.

Shani Pradosh Story

In ancient times, there was a wealthy man who believed in dharma karma practices. He was a follower of religion and used to make huge charities and donations. Everyone used to respect him. But, despite of having everything he used to remain sad because he didn’t have any child. One fine day, he and his wife decided to go on a pilgrimage. During their journey, they meet a priest who gets impressed with their religiosity and faith in lord. He tells the couple about Shani Pradosh fast and how observing the fast can help them fulfill their desires. After completing their pilgrimage, both of them observe Shani Pradosh fast with rituals and eventually gets blessed with a son.

Shani Pradosh Puja Rituals

Individual observing Pradosh fast should wake up early in the morning before sunrise. Complete the routine work and worship Lord Bholenath. No food is taken in this fast. After the full day fasting, one hour before sunset, bath is taken and white clothes are worn.

Using a solitary site for worshiping in the direction of Ishan kon is considered auspicious. Place used for worshiping should be cleaned with Ganga jal or any pure water. Then, a open hall(Mandap) is made using cow dung. Now, in this Mandap, a figure of lotus is created using five colors.

People observing Pradosh Vrat should use Kusha meditation mat. Preparing to the Puja, sit in a position facing north-east and pray to Lord Shiva. When worshiping, Lord Shiva should be offered water while chanting the mantra  “Om Namah Shivaya”

After keeping the fast for 11 or 26 Trayodashi, the Vrat is concluded. It is also known by the name of Udyapan. For the conclusion of this fast, Trayodashi Tithi is selected. One day before Udyapan,Lord Ganesha is worshiped. One night before, Kritan and Jagran are performed. Early in the  morning, the Mandap is made and decorated with clothes and lotus flowers. A rosary of Shiva mantra  is chanted and hawan is performed. Kheer is used in Aahuti(offering) in Hawan.

After the Hawan is over, Aarti of God Bholenath is performed and Peace mantra(Shanti Path) is recited. At the end, two Brahmans are offered food. Also, alms are given as per ones capacity and blessing are taken.

Shani Pradosh Fast Results

Pradosh occurring on Saturday is known as Shani Pradosh kaal. Those who don’t have any child. can observe the fast to get blessed.

Gugga Navami 2024 । Guga Navami Festival

Gugga Navami is celebrated on Krishna Paksha Navami in the month of Bhadrapad of Vikram Sawant. In 2024, Gugga Navami will be celebrated on 27 August . On this day, snakes are worshipped all around the country. It is believed that worshipping Lord Gugga on the day of Gugga Navami protects a person from the attack of snakes, as he is considered to be the lord of snakes. The worshipping of Lord Gugga commences from the day of Shravana month Poornima i.e on the day of Rakshabandhan. These rituals are followed for nine continuous days, which is why it is known as Gugga Navami.

Gugga Birth Story

As per the legends, Gugga was the king of Maru. His mother, Bachla was the true worshipper of Lord Gokarnath. One day Lord Gokarnath visits the city of Maru with his disciples to meet Bachla. When the queen gets to know about it, she becomes happy and starts doing preparations to welcome the lord. On the other hand, the lord asks one of his disciple to go around the places and beg for food. The disciple does as directed, and reaches the palace, where he ask the queen to give him something to eat. The queen offers him lots of jewellery and expensive things. But, he denies to accept even a bit of it and ask for a wheat.

The queen says in a proud state, that the store of the palace is full of tons of wheat. How will he be able to carry all in a small bowl. The disciple asks the queen to fill the bowl completely with as much grains as possible. Surprisingly, the entire stock of grains gets fit into the bowl and still the bowl remains empty. The queen gets enlightened with the powers of the beggar and apologizes him for her behaviour.

The queen tells the beggar about her problems, and the pain of not having a child. The beggar asks the queen to meet his guru to seek the solution of her problem. Next day morning when the queen gets ready to visit the ashram, her sister Kachla gets to know about the situation and reaches the ashram before the queen. She eats both the fruits given by the guru.

But, when the queen reaches the ashram guru tells her about everything and gives her one more fruit to eat, and blesses her with a son who would be able to control snakes and will eventually become the lord of snakes. THus, she gets blessed with a son who was later known by the name of Gugga.

Gugga Navami Katha

After some time, the princess of Raja Millap was chosen as a bride for Gugga. But, the king denies the proposal, which leave Gugga disappointed. He visits Lord Gorakhnath and tell him about the entire situation. In order to help him, Lord Gorakhnath gets the princess bitten by a snake.

Raja’s vaidya could not find any solution to cut the effect of the snake poison and save the life of the princess. Thus, manifested Vasuki nag tells the king to ask Gugga to chant the mantra if he wants to save the life of his daughter. King Gugga chants the mantra to take out the poison from the body of the princess. Thus, he saves the life of the princess and eventually marries her.

Gugga Navami Puja

Gugga Navami festival is a nine day festival. On the ninth day, Lord Gugga is worshipped at gugga temple with proper rituals. After the puja, chapati and rice are then distributed among the devotees in the form of prasad. Group of devotees recite the Gugga katha by visiting different places and worship Lord Naag. This festivals is celebrated with full devotion and faith in many states of India, especially in Punjab and Haryana. It is believed that the sand of the place where the puja is performed gives relief from the fear of snakes.

Bhadrapad Adhikmas Purnima – Bhadrapad Adhikmas

Adhikmas is in Bhadrapad month. This month’s Purnima is considered to be very important. This month’s Purnima is celebrated by taking a bath early in the morning and worshipping Lord Narayana with flowers, rice and red sandalwood. After this, a delicacy known as Pue which are made of pure ghee, wheat and jaggery. Flowers, clothes, sweets and some  money should also be donated. You can donate these things as per your limitations. You should chant the following mantra while making a donation :

“Om Vishnu Roop Sahastranshu Pranashan | Apupanna Pradanen Mam Papam Vyapohatu ||”

After chanting this mantra, you should worship Lord Vishnu with the following mantra :

“Yasya Haste Gadachakre Garudoyasya Vahanam | Shankh Kartale Yasya Sa Me Vishnu Praseedatu ||”

Bhadrapad Adhikmas Purnima worship

Lord Satya Narayana is worshipped on this day. Banana leaves, Panchamrit, Supari, Pan leaves, Sesame seeds, Red thread, Sindoor, Durva etc. should be used in this worship. In order to worship Lord Satya Narayana, Panchamrit is made of milk, honey, bananas, ganges water, tusli leaves and sweets. Sugar is mixed with wheat and this mixture is roasted and offered to Lord Vishnu.

Once Satya Narayana fast story is read, he is worshipped. Then, Goddess Laxmi, Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma are also worshipped. Prasad is distributed among everyone. A person should take a bath early in the morning at the bank of a river, well, pond etc. He should then worship Lord Vishnu. Food and money should also be offered to a Brahmana. A person taking a bath and worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day is blessed by the Lord.

This year, Adhikmas is falling in Bhadrapad month which makes this Purnima even more important. Worshipping Lord Vishnu during this period provides a person with success, wealth, fame, respect etc. According to shastras, a person receives auspicious results by worshipping Lord Vishnu in Kritika Nakshatra on Saptami of Krishna Paksha during this month.

Importance of Bhadrapad Adhikmas Purnima

People keeping a fast on the day of Purnima should sleep on the floor in Malmas. They should eat only vegetarian food during this period. A person should fast in this month and worship Lord Vishnu. He should also chant mantras. A person should also read Lord Purushottam’s story. Sri Ramayan should also be read and worshipped. Sri Vishnu stotra should also be read.

A person should fast on the day of Adhikmas Purnima. He should worship Lord Vishnu with total dedication and devotion. A person is blessed if he involves himself in any sort of donations, charities etc. A person keeping a fast on this day and worshipping Lord Vishnu goes straight to heaven.

This month a bath, donations and worship is considered to be very important. Once this month is over, you should feed Brahmanas and make donations. You should also read Malmas story with total devotion. You should also donate clothes, food, jaggery and ghee. On the day of Purnima, Moon is in Bhadrapad Nakshatra.

Vatsa Dwadashi 2024 | Vats Dwadashi Puja

Vatsa Dwadashi is celebrated on 30 August  2024. Bhadrapad on the day of Krishna Paksha Dwadashi. It is also known as bachwas, oak duwas, and bali dwadashi. This fast is observed by females to get blessed with a sons, and mothers for the luck and longevity of their male child. In present times, this fast is majorly observed in some regions of Rajasthan. The females of the family worship the cows and calves on this day and offer dry coconut to the calves as prasad.

Vatsa Dwadashi Katha and Puja

This festival is celebrated with enthusiasm and devotion by the females of the house for longevity and good luck for their male child. In this festivals, females worship and serve the cows and their calves early in the morning after taking bath. While offering their prayers, an elder women of the family recites cow-calf katha, heard by all the other females observing fast. On this day, the knife is not used while cooking, and food items like chana, moong dal, kadhi are prepared at home.

In modern times, people do not keep cow at home. In this situation, females can visit cattle farms or nearby villages to worship the cows.Also, if you are unable to find a cow with a calf in nearby areas, then the idols of cow and a calf made of mud can also be worshipped . On this day, use of dairy products like milk, curd, paneer etc are prohibited.

The females observing fasts wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. Then, the cow with a calf is bathed by the females before worshipping. After giving them the bath, a pure white cloth is put on both of them, along with garlands made of flowers. Then the chandan tilak is applied on their forehead.

After purifying the cows, flowers, rice, sesame, and water is mixed in a copper utensil and poured on them while chanting the Gau mantras. After worshipping them, the observer should listen to Vats Dwadashi katha. The fast is completed at the sunset after performing evening aarti.

Significance of Vatsa Dwadashi

Vatsa Dwadashi fast is observed by females for the longevity and prosperity of their sons. It is a female oriented festival and observed by ladies who are blessed with male child. On this day, the observers only eat sprouts, moong, chana and use the same for prasad. Food items made with milk products are strictly prohibited on this day.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2024 – Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Kailash Mansarovar is considered to be Lord Shiva’s favorite place. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati reside here. According to Puranic scriptures, Kailash Parvat is considered to be Shiva Dham. This place is considered the most important of all Jyotirlingas. Mansarovar is known as Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage. A lot of devotees and saints visit this place every year. This place is considered to be very holy and sacred.

Like Amarnath temple, this place is also not easily accessible. It is known as the second Kailash Parvat. Mansarovar is famous for its magnificence. This place covers an area of 48 kilometers. Kailash Mansarovar yatra is considered to be one of the most difficult pilgrimages. The path even crosses through China. It is believed that people who have been called by Lord Shiva are only able to visit this place. This yatra takes place every year in the month of May or June. This yatra is carried out in a period of 28 days.

A glimpse of India’s culture can be clearly seen in this pilgrimage. Kailash Parvat holds an important place in Hindu religion. It is also known as Ganparvat and Rajatgiri. It is believed that this Parvat originated on its own. The southern part of the mountain is considered to be blue sapphire, eastern to be crystal, western to be ruby and northern to be gold. Its tip is in the form of a Shiva Linga. This place is always covered with snow. This place is important in four religions : Hindu, Buddhism, Jainism and Tibet religion. The four sides of Kailash Parvat have produced Brahmaputra, Sindhu, Satluj and Karnali rivers.

Puranic Importance of Kailash Mansarovar

According to Puranas, Mansarovar lake originated because of Bhagirath’s austerities and blessings of Lord Shiva. A lot of stories and legends have been associated with this place. A lot of different stories have also been mentioned in shastras. According to some, Lord Brahma formed Mansarovar with the water in his Kamandal. It is also believed that Goddess Sati’s hand feel in this place. Kailash Mansarovar is considered to be a heaven on earth. It is believed that a person who drinks water from Mansarovar lake goes straight to heaven. This place is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas.

Kailash Mansarovar temple is 4 thousand feet above ground level. Due to this, it is always covered with snow. Devotees visiting this place consider it auspicious to remove the snow and take a bath in the lake. Lord Shiva resides here in the form of a Shiva Linga. This place has originated many different rivers. People drink water from Mansarovar lake and take a bath.

Rakshas Tal

People from Hindu religion as well as other religions like Buddhism also visit Mansarovar lake. It is believed that they are blessed from Lord Shiva. There is a pond in this place which is also known as Rakshas Tal. It is believed that Ravan offered austerities to Lord Shiva in this place. Ravan belonged to the demon (Rakshas) dynasty and therefore, this pond came to be known as Rakshas Tal.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Path

It is believed that Lord Brahma created the Earth in this place. River Ganga divided into four different rivers in this place. Four different names are given to these rivers. The path of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra covers Haldvani, Kausani, Bageshwar, Gharchula, Tavaghaat, Paangu, Sirkha, Gaala, Maalpa, Budhi, Gunji, Kalapani, Lipu Lekha Darra, Taklakot, Tarchen Derapuf and Kailash. Mansarovar yatra seems to be magnificent. The color of nature seems to be dark blue and snowy. People visiting this place walk around the mountain. People visiting this place believed that this place is the center of the universe.

Kailash Mansarovar Parikrama

Kailash Parvat Parikrama is situated 15500 to 19500 feet above ground level. This Parikrama begins from Tarchen and ends in Tarchen Kailash which is 45 kilometers away from the place. People reach Brahmaputra river and finally at Derapuf. This peak is also known as Himratna. People proceed towards Drolma which is a dangerous passage. This is followed by Taklakot, Maandhaata, Gurlala and Darra. Mansarovar and Rakshas Tal can be seen from this place. Lord Shiva is worshipped in Drolma pass and Mansarovar.

Durra is followed by Tirthapuri where springs and waterfalls of hot water can be seen. This is followed by Dolmala and Devikhind. These are situated at a height. Beneath Drolma, Gauri Kund can be seen in Lhadu vallye. Devotees take a bath in this Kund. It is believed that Goddess Parvati offered austerities in this place in order to marry Lord Shiva. Hence, this place came to be known as Gauri Kund. This yatra ends at the highest peak which is known as Deshfu Gompa.

Importance of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Kailash Mansarovar is situated at a great height and mostly covered with snow. Therefore, it is a test of the devotion and dedication of people. Besides this, there is always an increase in the number of people visiting this place every year.

This place is beautiful because of the many rivers and waterfalls.The magnificence and beauty of this place has also been mentioned in Puranas. According to Vrahat Purana, Lord Shiva is extremely fond of this place. A detailed explanation of this place has been given in Puranic Scriptures.

This is believed to be one of the ancient and oldest mountain ranges. This also the place with most snow all around the world. Still, a huge number of devotees visit this place every year. Even tourists visit this place because of its beauty. This place offers a lot of peace to the soul. Each mountain in these ranges has atleast one pilgrimage. There are also forests and peaks. A mythological story is associated with each one. This place is beautiful and magnificent.
