According to the Hindu calendar, Basant Panchami is celebrated on the Panchami (fifth date) of Magh Masa, Shukla Paksha.  In 2024, Basant Panchami will be celebrated on 14th February. People worship Lord to thank him for sending the spring season which gives relief from the chilling cold weather. Basant Panchami significance can be seen through new zeal of life can be seen coming in various animal, birds, tree and plants. Colorful flowers decorate this earth beautifully.

On the day of Panchami, in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, a grand fair is organised in the temple of Sage Durvasa. On this day, all the temples of this place are beautifully decorated. The Gods and Goddesses of temples are dressed magnificently. Yellow coloured flowers are used the most in decoration works. Radha-Krishna, decorated with the colors of Basant, looks marvelous. Huge crowd of devotees gather here on this day.

Cultural programs are organised at different places. In this, guys perform Bhangra and girls do the Gidda etc. Basant Panchami is the symbol of change in season. It is a day of beginning of charm in the greenery of nature. It is an integral part of India’s culture.

Basant Panchami Katha

The offerings made to God and Goddesses of temples are of yellow colours. Songs of Vasant are sung and enjoyed. Everywhere in the nature, yellow color can be seen swinging. Holi is also started from the day of Basant Panchami. Holi is a traditional festival of Brij. Whose influence can be seen from the day of Basant Panchami.

As per the ancient scriptures, Lord Brahma created the universe on suggestion of Lord Vishnu. Once, Lord Brahma came down on earth to see his creation. He felt something lacking in his universe. But, he was unable to make out that deficiency. He saw, birds,animals, human beings, tree and everything very quiet. Then he realized about the thing that is lacking. He started thinking, what should be done that all of them starts singing and talking. In the meanwhile, he took water from his Kamandal(small pot) and sprinkled on earth and lotus flower. Immediately a Goddess wearing white clothes appeared. She had four hands. She had harp in one hand, lotus in the second hand, garland in the third and book in the fourth hand.

Lord Brahma then blessed her with a boon that she will reside in everybody’s throat. Then he asked her to fill consciousness in everyone. He said, “the person who will have your residency in himself will be known for his virtues in the society. You will be known by the name of Goddess Bhagwati. World will get its welfare done by you, so people living on earth will worship you.”. Hence, from time immemorial Goddess Saraswati is being worshipped on Basant Panchami. This day is considered as the birthday of Goddess Saraswati.

On the day of Basant Panchmi, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped in schools. In the eastern region of India, idol of Goddess Saraswati is placed in homes and is worshipped on the day of Basant Panchami. On the next day of Puja, the idol is immersed in water.

The festival of Vasant Panchami is celebrated on fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh Mas. On this day, Lord Vishnu, Lord Krishna, Goddess Radha, and Goddess of education, Mata Saraswati are worshiped with yellow flowers, Gulal, water offerings, incense, lamp etc. In this Puja, as per the tradition, yellow and sweet rice and yellow colored Halwa is offered to God and then eaten as Prasad.

Panchami is also celebrated as the birthday of Goddess Saraswati. This festival is considered to be the festival of King of seasons. Basant Panchami begins from spring season and carries up to Panchami of Krishan Paksha of Falgun Mas. This festival is specially significant for lovers of art and education.

According to Basant Panchami story, Lord Brahma created the universe. This festival is celebrated in north India with full glee and delight. As per another Basant Panchami story, this day, God Rama ate half tasted grapes of Mata Shabari. So as to commemorate, the festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated.

The day of Basant Panchami is considered as the beginning of life. This day is the day of arrival of happiness. The season of spring is the season of rebirth and renewal. According to Basant Panchami story, Lord Brahma had an idea. He took some water in his Kamandal and sprinkled it in air. An angel appeared from a tree. The angel had a harp in her hand. Lord Brahma requested her to play something so that everything on Earth was not silent. As a result, the angel started playing some music.

According to Basant Panchami story, the angel blessed the people of the Earth with voice. She also filled this planet with music. Since then, that angel came to be known as Goddess Saraswati, Goddess of speech and knowledge. She is also known as Veena Vadini (harp player). It is believed that Goddess Saraswati provided voice, intelligence, force and glory.

Saubhagya Sundari Fast 2024- Saubhagya Sundari Vrat

Saubhagya sundari fast is a festival of married women. Woman keep this fast for a happily married life and to attain the pleasure of children. By observing this wish the desire of getting married and having a child after marriage gets fulfilled. Those who are sufferings from troubles related to marriage due to delay or Manglik dosha must observe this fast to stroy the effect of malefic planets and doshas.

It is a fulfilling fast for married women. It is believed that goddess Sati performed hard penance on this day to get Lord Shiva in the form of her husband. On completion of her penance she was blessed with her desire and got married to lord Shiva. Till date, she is worshipped along with Lord Shiva in every religious ceremony. Those women who observe this fast get the boon of being married till the end of her life.

Rituals To Worship For Saubhagya Sundari Fast

Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati are worshipped on this day with rituals and practice mentioned in various ancient scriptures.All the members of the family should worship the couple together in the morning after bath. Garlands, fruits, laddu, paan, supari, cardamom, cloves and sixteen things of a married women, that includes henna, vermillion, bindi, saree, aalta, anklet etc.  are used to worship the lord.

Wrap the idol of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati with a red cloth and establish them on a raised wooden platform. First of all, Lord Ganesha is worshipped before any other god in Hindu culture.  Now, keep one diya in front of the idol of the lord  and worship the lord with vermillion, moli, roli, supari, cloves, rice, flowers, belpatra, dry fruits etc.

Then all the nine planets are worshipped after this, along with worshipping the entire family of Lord Shiva. The idol of the goddess is adorned with all the sixteen things of a married women like bangles, henna, vermillion, anklet etc. Priest is called a home for the puja and fed food. Give dakshina and clothes to the priest before departing.

Significance of Saubhagya Sundari

Women keep this fast for the welfare of their husbands. There is also a tradition of young married girls observing this fast to get good husband. The idol of Shiva-Parvati is bathe with water containing sesame seeds. Women chant mantras to worship the lord while offering their prayers.

Women who do not have good yogas for marriage in the kundali, must observe this fast to attain a happy married life. Performing the fast with rituals provide a blissful married life and happiness. The pleasure in a married life also increases with prosperity and happiness.

Chhath festival is associated with worship of Lord Sun. A person should pour water in front of the Sun during dawn and dusk, i.e, the first and last rays of light on the day of this festival. This festival is known as Chhath because of Surya Shashti fast. This festival provides happiness, prosperity and fulfills all kinds of desires. According to ancient mythological beliefs, it is believed that Chhath festival was first celebrated during Mahabharata. Chhath devi is believed to be Lord Sun’s sister. Lord Sun is worshipped to impress Chhath devi. This worship is carried out on the banks of Ganga, Yamuna or some other holy river.

Chhath Puja is celebrated for four days. It is a very difficult and important festival. This festival begins on Kartik Shukla Chaturthi and ends on Kartik Shukla Saptami. During this period, a person keeping this fast does not even drink water. Chhath festival is celebrated with a lot of zeal and excitement in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Chhath Worship

Chhath worship begins from Kartik Shukla Chaturthi and ends on Kartik Shukla Saptami. The first day is celebrated as ‘Nahay-Khay’. The next day, Panchami, is celebrated as Kharna. People keeping a fast on this day eat Roti, Kheer and fruits in the evening.

A person keeping a fast does not drink water for 36 hours. Kharna worship welcomes Devi Shashti to a person’s house. This way, a person is blessed by Goddess Shakti and Lord Brahma. On the day of Shashti, a person should offer water to Sun during dusk. The next day, a person should offer water to Sun during dawn.

Chhath Festival Importance

Chhath festival is celebrated all around the country. It is mostly celebrated in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Even some foreigners celebrate this festival with a lot of zeal and excitement. According to beliefs, Lord Sun is Chhath devi’s brother. This fast is kept with devotion and dedication. A person who does not have a child is blessed with a child. This fast also provides wealth, success and prosperity. People worship Lord Sun during Chhath festival. People stand in water, light lamps and offer water to Lord Sun during dawn and dusk. Basant Panchami is the birthday of Goddess Saraswati, the Adhisthtari Devi of Vedas. Saraswati is the Goddess of learning and speech, and one of the three Mahadevi (great Goddess). Basant Panchami has special significance as it is the birthday of Maa Saraswati.

On this day Lord Vishnu, God Krishna-Radha and Goddess of education Mother Saraswati is worshiped with yellow flowers, Gulaal, water offerings, incense, lamp etc. As per the tradition, yellow and sweet rice and yellow coloured Halwa is offered to God in the pooja and then eaten as Prasadam.

Historical Significance of Basant Panchami

Lord Krishna has mentioned in the 10th chapter of Gita “out of the 6 season, I am the spring season. Vasant is my form. This season is very dear to me.” That is why, festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated in a special manner in Mathura and other places linked with Lord Krishna. The other five seasons are : summer, rainy season, autumn, cold season (between mid-November to mid-January) and winter. Basant Panchami is the festival of joy and excitement. Winter season is on its departure, during this festival. And, the summer season is on its arrival with the blossoming of new flowers. The ending of winter brings an environment of activeness.

In the ancient period, people used to wear Basanti coloured clothes of muslin on the day of Basant Panchami. Poets, pleased by this season used to start up with their writings. On the day of Vasant Panchami, people cook yellow coloured rice and consume it along with all their family members and relatives.

Kushmanda Navami is a day of accomplishments. Worshipping Goddess Kushmandi on this day brings to an end all the sufferings and obstacles of life. Kushmanda Navami puja is known to provide longevity, respect and honor in the society. The mantra, “Ya devi Sarvabhuteshu Ma Kushmanda Rupen Sansthita | Namastaseya Namastaseya Namastaseya Namoh Namah ||” represents the form of Goddess Durga. Goddess Kushmanda is known by this name because she created the whole universe with her little divine smile like a flower which bloomed with a bud.

Rituals for Kushmanda Navami Puja

Goddess Kushmanda is the fourth manifestation of goddess Durga. Worshipping the goddess with faith and devotion brings inner satisfaction. The core of Sun is the residence of the goddess. She is the only one who has the power and controls the functioning of the solar system. Goddess Kushmanda is also known as “Ashtabhuja” as she is often depicted as having eight arms. In her seven hands she holds kamandalu, bow, arrow, lotus, a jar of nectar, discus and mace. In her eighth hand she holds a rosary capable of giving eight Siddhis and nine Niddhis. She rides a lion who represents “Dharma”. Ailments and sorrows are eliminated on worshipping her and longevity, name, strength and health are improved.

The devotees who desires to enter into the Anhat chakra in their mind should worship the goddess to get the blessings from her. The devotees should follow all the rituals and with devotion. Worshipping her with devotion ensures success and prosperity. The devotees get relief from all kind of troubles and obstacles in life.

On this day, Goddess Kushmandi should be worshipped with rituals by keeping flowers in your hands to offer her and chant,  “ Surasampurnakalasham Rudhiraplutmeva Cha | Dadhana Hastpadhyabhayam Kushmanda Shubhdastu Me ”. Lord Shiva and Brahma are also worshipped after worshipping the goddess. Shri Hari should be worshipped along with the goddess Laxmi.

Saubhagya Panchami fast is observed to attain happiness and prosperity in life. Kartik shukla paksha panchami is known as Saubhagya Panchami. In 2024, Saubhagya panchami fast will be observed on 18th November. Lord Shiva is worshipped on this day for fulfilment of all desires in life. Also, worshipping Lord Ganesha gives relief from all kind of obstacles and sufferings in life.

Every person on this earth desires for a pleasant and peaceful life, and the fast of Saubagya Panchami helps the individual to attain his desires to the fullest. It is considered to be an auspicious day in ancient scriptures and known to provide a prosperous and healthy life.

The festival of fulfillment of desires is also known as Kartik shukla panchami, Saubhagya panchami and Labh panchami. This auspicious date is a part of Diwali festival. At some places, Diwali is considered to be a beginning of a new year and thus, this day is taken as the auspicious time to undertake new projects, begin new ventures and so on.

Rituals For Saubhagya Panchami Pujan

The person observing the fast should wake up early in the morning and perform daily routine activities before commencing the prayer. After taking bath, worship the Sun by offering water, followed by worshipping Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha. Establish the idols of the gods at the worshipping place. Worship Lord Ganesh with rice, flowers, durva, vermilion and sandalwood. On the other hands, worship Lord Shiva with bilva leaves, dhatura, bhasma, white cloth, white flowers and so on. Offer Modak and Milk as bhog to both the gods respectively.

Chant the following mantra while offering your prayers to lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha.

Significance of Saubhagya Panchami

Chanting Lord Ganesha mantra is considered to give auspicious results on this day. The observer gets good results at workplace, service or business. This fast is known to fulfil all the desires of the person, when observed with faith and devotion. It is considered to be an auspicious time to undertake new projects, begin new ventures and so on.

Gopashtami Festival | Gopashtami Festival 2024 | Gopashtami Celebrations

In 2024, it will be celebrated on  09 November. On this day devotees bathe and clean the cows early in the morning. There is a tradition of decorating and worshipping cows along with their calf on this day. Cows are worshipped in the morning with incense, flowers, roli, jaggery, fragrance, clothes, rice and water followed by performing the aarti. Many people give gifts to the herders a well.

On the auspicious day of Gopashtami, the cows are worshipped in the cattle farms. All the members of the family take part in the puja and offer their prayers to the cows. The puja for Gopashtami is performed by the priest with proper rituals.

There is a tradition of worshipping cows on Gopastami festival according to the ancient scriptures. The cows are worshipped on the Kartik shukla paksha and decorated with flowers. The devotee should walk a mile after doing the parikrama. In the evening the cow returns home and is worshipped with panchopchar and returns home and worshipped. After that the soil beneath the cow’s feet is applied on the forehead and food items are offered to her. By doing all this devotee gets a prosperous and a happy life.

Ancient Story Of Gopashtami

As per the legend, Lord Krishna communicated his desire of herding the cows to his mother. As per his wish, Krishna’s mother went to saint Shandilya and asked him about the auspicious time to begin the work. The auspicious day as told by the saint, was Gopashtami. The innocent child worships and offers his prayers to the cows before commencing his new task.

On the auspicious festival of Gopashtami, people visit the cattle farms or the herders and offer their prayers to cows with diya, jiggery, flowers, gangajal, etc, Females worship Lord Krishna before cows and apply tilak on the forehead of the cows. Cows are fed green peas, jiggery etc. by the devotees.  Many religious people donate food and other items in the cattle farm

Worshipping Lord Krishna On Gopashtami

Cows are considered to be the soul of Hindu culture. They are pure and revered and are worshipped in India just  like any other Hindu god and scriptures. It is believed that all the gods and goddess reside inside a cow, and thus, hold a special place in Hindu culture. According to the Hindu scriptures, cows are the mother of all species and every Hindu possess a respect for her. Historical Significance of Diwali – Importance of Diwali Festival

Diwali is a festival that symbolizes enthusiasm, faith and wealth. Goddess Saraswati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Kuber etc. are worshipped on this day. This festival is not only celebrated in India, but all around the world with great joy. It is believe that lord Rama returned to his kingdom after spending 14 years in exile. The people of his kingdom celebrated this occasion with joy by lighting diyas in every nook and corner of the kingdom.

In ancient scriptures it is mentioned that on the day of Diwali, at midnight, goddess Lakshmi enters your house. Hence, people clean and decorate their houses. Amawasya is on the day of Diwali and people light up their houses with divas to guide their ancestors who come down on the earth this day. It is recommended to chant kuber yantra of lord Kuber to get immense wealth in the coming year.

The puja of goddess Lakshmi begins in the evening. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh are established in an individual’s house at a decided auspicious time. Lord Ganesh sits on the left side and puja of goddess Lakshmi is done facing east. Divas of ghee are lit and shree sutra, Lakshmi sutra and purush sutras are praised. Divas are lit in every corner of the house.

Sweets are offered to the lords and every person in a family takes the blessings of their elders. At some places people gamble on the day of Diwali and at night special pujas are performed by tantric to attain siddhis. It is a tradition to apply paste of gram flour on the morning of Diwali and take an early bath. People burn the husk of coconut to guide their ancestors to heaven on the day of diwali.

On the day of Diwali people burn crackers and also worship lord Mahavir, founder of Jain religion. On this day people also celebrate kuber jayanti. To make yamraj, lord of death, happy people also give away divas as charity. On the day of Diwali people also do puja of Shreehari. Choti diwali is celebrated on the day of Narak Chaturthi.

Importance of Deepdan

The celebration of Diwali begins from Dhan Tryodashi. It is a gestyival of days in a sequence of: Dhan tryodashi, Narak Charurdashi/Choti Diwali, Diwali, Govardhan puja, and Bhai Dooj. According to ancient beliefs, God Dhanvantari appeared on Dhanteras. People lit diyas at the main entrance of their home

There is one more tale related to worshipping Lord Yamraj and lightning a lamp at the door of the house on this day according to which an ancient king, Hema was blessed with a son. He prepared the horoscope of his son and gets to know that his son will die after the four days of  his marriage. On listening to it the King gets very upset. At the time of his son’s marriage, when his daughter-in-law gets to know about it, she determines that she will save her husband from death. On the fourth day of her marriage she makes a heap of gold and silver coins outside the door of her room and recites stories to her husband so he doesn’t fall asleep.

In the midnight Yamraj comes in the form of a snake, but finds it difficult to pass the heap of gold and waits outside the door while listening the songs being sung by the princess. In this way the entire night passes by and the snake returns back in the morning without killing the prince. Thus, the life of the prince is saved. Since that day people light a candle outside their home and pray Lord Yamraj for their long life.

Tulsi Puja in Kartik Month | Tulsi Pooja 2024

Each month comprises of something special and important. Tulsi Puja is considered to be very important in Kartik month. Its importance has also been explained in Puranas. Tulsi Puja is the basis for purity and serenity in this month. According to Shastras, Kartik month is one of the most important times in an year. Skanda Purana has also explained its importance by stating : Masanan Kartik Shreshtho Devanam Dhusudan || Tirth Narayana Khyahin Tritayan Durlabham Kalaun || This means Kartik month is considered to be as important as Lord Vishnu and Badrikashram.

Tulsi is a symbol of faith, belief and religion. It also has a lot of medicinal qualities. Pouring water on a Tulsi plant and lighting lamps in the evening is considered to be very auspicious. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi resides in Tulsi. Hence, it is believed that a person acquires wealth by lighting lamps in a Tulsi plant during Kartik month.

Importance of Tulsi Worship

Kartik month is considered to be the most important month. According to Puranas, this month provides a person with truth, religion, karma and salvation. Lord Vishnu stays near Tulsi’s feet in the form of Shaligram. Tulsidal is put on his forehead.
