The Amavasya of Magh month is called Mauni Amavasya. In the year 2024, Amavasya is on 21 January. In Magh month the Sun transits in Capricorn sign. It is said that on this day, keeping silence and taking bath at Sangam(A place where three rivers meet) yields fruits equal to thousands of Yajna. This bath is more auspicious if it is done in the morning at the time of Sun rise. In addition, the soul pacification works of our ancestors may also be performed.


Magh Shukla Paksha Panchak Begins: 23 January 2024

The Panchak of Magh Shukla Paksha will begin on 23 January at 13:51.for this month, this period of Panchak will last till January 27, 18:37. Prohibition of Auspicious works should not be done during Panchak. It is also said that if any person dies during Panchak then his last rites should be performed only after doing Panchak pacification works.

On this day , yellow colour is used in especially in all the things. The people wear Yellow clothes and cook yellow rice. The children fly kites on this day. On this day many big kite flying competitions are organised in which participants from many different countries participate.


In addition, on this day Mata Saraswati and Lord Vishnu are also worshipped. Saraswati Poojan is performed in different educational institutes. Goddess Saraswati is considered to be the God of wisdom and music. Worshipping Goddess on this day pleases her.


Rath Arogya Saptami Fast: 19th February 2024

According to an ancient belief, on this day, Lord Sun gave light to the whole universe. This day is also called Surya Jayanti. Chanting Sun Stotra or Surya Paath traditionally on this day increases self respect and gives paternal comfort. If this Paath is done along with observing fast then it gives wealth, Arogya, Child and other comforts.


Jaya Ekadashi Fast: 01th February 2024

The fast of Ekadashi of Magh Shukla Paksha is called Jaya Ekadashi Fast. Observing this fast frees the person from ghosts. Lord Shri Krishna is worshipped in this fast. Flowers, water, Akshat and Roli should be used for worshipping.


Pradosh Fast: 03 February 2024

The fast of Trayodashi of Magh Shukla Paksha is called Pradosh fast. In 2024, this fast is on 03 February. Pradosh fast pleases Lord Shiva immediately. The period after Sun set is called Pradosh Kaal. Pradosh fast is ended in Pradosh Kaal. There is a belief that during this Kaal, Lord Bhole Nath dances on Kailash hill in a happy mood.
