According to a belief, 12 signs are divided into two parts. 6 signs are situated on one side of the equator and the other 6 on the other side. After this Manthan, 14 gemstones are evolved. And Goddess Lakshmi appeared on the day of Amavasya.


After Samundra Manthan, Goddess Lakshmi was born. Goddess Lakshmi is said to have many forms. She is called as Lakshmi, Maha Lakshmi, Raj Lakshmi, Greh Lakshmi etc. On the day of Diwali, the house is cleaned and the dust is thrown out of the house. Goddess Kamal Lakshmi is called in a pure and clean house.


On this day, grown up crops are cut and brought home. This brings wealth and prosperity. For the attainment of Goddess Lakshmi, a person should be hard working, obey virtues and stay away from bad deeds.


A person is said to be rich if he has a health body, happiness in life, he spend money for attainment of happiness, and if he has name, fame, wisdom, prosperity. Hence, while performing Maha Lakshmi Pujan, we worship Lord Ganesha, Maha Saraswati and Maha Lakshmi. Lord Ganesha is the God of wisdom, Saraswati is the Goddess of knowledge. Hence, always a Sri word is added with the name of Goddess Lakshmi. It means, if a person gets wealth then he should use the money in good works.


On the festival of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi is always worshipped with lord Ganesha. Diwali is a festival of wealth, prosperity, luxury and, Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth. It is well known that money is a waste without wisdom. Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped for wealth and lord Ganesha for wisdom.


Lord Ganesha is called the symbol of purity. He is worshipped to get happiness and peace in life. Hence, lord Ganesha is worshipped before any auspicious work. In order to have a Puja and good task run smoothly, lord is worshipped.


Everyone wish that Mata Lakshmi shall reside in their homes permanently. For this, they try doing many things. How to Practise?

1. Having Amla everyday makes Goddess Lakshmi happy. According to a belief, Mata Lakshmi resides in a house with lotus flowers and shell. White colored clothes are very dear to her. A person should wear white clothes to please her.


2. To have Goddess Lakshmi in house, a person should have early morning bath and wear clean clothes.


3. He should worship Lord Shiva regularly. He and his family members should have belief in God. Fast of lord Vishnu should be observed on Ekadashi and Amla should be offered to god.


4. Goddess Lakshmi always stay at a place where women and girls are respected.


5. A person should follow morality to have Goddess Lakshmi reside in the house. Senses should be kept in control.


6. Person should be compassionate towards the animals and birds.


7. Religious policies should be followed systematically.
