According to Hindu Panchang, Jyeshtha month is the third month of the Hindi calendar. Every month of Hindi calendar has its own properties. Every month has its own specialities. Ganga Dussehra is celebrated on the occasion of arrival of holy Ganga river on earth. During this festival, Ganga Pujan and observing fast holds great importance. Along with this bathing in river Ganga is also considered auspicious. Also, chanting and charity are considered important on this day. It is believed that a person is purified as his/her sins are washed away by bathing in river Ganga on the day of Jyeshtha Shukla Dashmi.

Nirjala Ekadashi -
Another important festival of Jyeshtha month is Nirjala Ekadashi. This festival is celebrated on the Ekadashi of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha. Observing fast & performing Puja is considered important on Nirjala Ekadashi. On this day, in the entire nation sweet water is offered to people and pedestrians which is also known as ‘Chabeel’. On this Ekadashi also, bathing at pilgrimage sites is considered auspicious. On this day Lord Vishnu is worshipped. Chanting and donation made on this day yields multiple benefits.
Vat Savitri Fast -
Jyeshtha Amavasya is celebrated as Vat Savitri fast. This fast is observed to improve the fortune. Banyan tree holds great importance in Hindu religion. It is believed that all the three Gods, namely - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh resides on this tree. The story of Savitri and Satyavaan is recited is recited in front of this tree, and after puja, fast and story, the fast is said to be complete.
Jyeshtha Purnima -
Lord Vishnu is worshipped on Jyeshtha Purnima Tithi. On this day, Puja is performed either by bathing in holy river or at home only in the early morning hours. Offering food to a priest, donations to poor and reciting Satya Narayan story are some of the important rituals that are good to carry out on this day. By performing all these deeds on Purnima, the good Karma of a person increases. According to the mythological beliefs, this month is also hot, so as stated earlier donating water on this day gives auspicious results. Apart from this monetary donation, giving food and clothes to poor also gives auspicious results to the native. On Jyeshtha Purnima, birth of Saint Kabir is also celebrated.
