Brihat Jataka Hora Shastra - A Most Proven Astrology Scripture

What is Brihat Jataka

The Brihat Jataka Hora Shastra is the classic jyotish scripture written by the great Varahamihira, who was one of the most important discoverers of vedic astrology principles. The great Varahmihira is considered a astrologer in the class of great sage Parashara who established this divine branch of astrology.

Great Varahamihira wrote Brihat Jataka Hora Shastra while he was in the court of the king Vikramaditya. The approximate date around when this great scripture was written is estimated to be 57BC. Varahamihira was adept in the science of the stars and contributed many important discoveries to the modern astrology world. He was the first proponent of the principle of the shifting of the equinoxes and accurately calculated it to be 50.3 2 seconds each year. Apart from Brihat Jataka Hora Shastra he also wrote many other classics including Brihat Samhita, Laghu Jataka and Yogayatra. He also wrote the Daivagya Vallabha which is a very appreciated text of Prasna Astrology.
