Earthquake and Mundane Astrology - An Analysis

Earthquake is analyzed and discussed only after it has happened. Science has progressed to the extent that it can measure earthquakes on Richter scale and the point of origin. But, this Natural disastrous activity is still a suspense.

On one hand, where Science has not progressed to forecast the happening of an Earthquake, Astrology has been able to find out the facts on the basis of which forecasting an Earthquake can be done.

Following are the facts about Earthquakes that can be highlighted from an Astrological viewpoint :

• The intensity of the Earthquake can be judged on the basis of the planets affecting the tectonic plates that clash with each other.
• The earth takes 1 year to complete the revolution around the Sun. During this rotation, the coincidence of the trajectory is modified by 50 -52 seconds This leads to the difference in the tectonic plates. This creates the sensitivity in the earthquake prone regions.
• According to Maharishi Varahmihir,  this universe is divided into four groups, each of 7 nakshatras. The 4 groups are : Vaayava Mandal, Indra Mandal, Varun Mandal, Agnaye Mandal.
• The impact of Solar and Lunar eclipse can be seen on the earthquake. It has been observed that when two eclipses occur within 15 days, within 6 months an earthquake occurs.
• When Saturn afflicts earth ruled planets, Mercury or Mars or when Saturn afflicts earth ruled zodiac signs, i.e, Taurus, Venus or Capricorn.
• During Solar eclipse, Lunar eclipse affliction of Sun in Pratipada and the affliction of eighth house has been observed.
• Earthquake occurrence has also been observed when Mars or Mercury and Saturn are in conjunction or aspecting each other. Also, if not this way, either Mars or Mercury along with Saturn aspect Ascendant or eighth house.
• It has been observed that when Mercury is retrograde or of lesser degrees than the Sun or is Asta during that period, earthquakes occur.
• When two or more than two planets along with Rahu or Ketu are in conjunction with  Earth ruled zodiac signs Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn.
• It is found that at the time of an Earthquake, atleast one planet should be retrograde.
• Between Rahu and ketu, four or more planets are present in the Nakshatra of evil planets.
• Normally, earthquakes are caused just after mid night or just after mid day because during that time gravitational force of the planets increases on earth.
• The days in which the chances of Earthquake are more are Amavasya (New Moon) , Puranmasi (Full Moon), from 13th day of Krishna paksh to the 3rd day of Shukla Paksh and from 13th day of Shukla Paksh to the 3rd day of Krishna Paksh, the gravitational force on the earth increases.

It has been observed that Natural disasters or earthquakes are mainly affected by Moon and Rahu.

The Earthquake in Indonesia on 27.05.2006 at 5:54 in the morning was measured 6.3 on Richter scale in which more than 5000 people died. The planetary positions at that time were matching the factors mentioned above. The day was Amavasya, kritika Nakshatra, Atigand Yoga. On Saturday, in Saturn Hora, Kaal sarp Yoga was formed and Jupiter was retrograde on that day.
