Kshayaroga (tuberculosis) is a disease of very ancient origin which can even be traced back to the time of man’s origin. In the recent times, deaths due to this disease are on the increase in spite of the measures adopted by the medical fraternity to check the infection in the initial stages.
People from the medical industry seem to be ignorant of the true cause of the disease in spite of the high sounding medical terms they use. The treatment applied for tuberculosis and the methods adopted are curative rather than preventive. Modern medicines have not been very effective in tackling this dreadful disease.

Astrological aspect on Kshayaroga (tuberculosis)

The tripod of life is formed by the Sun (ego), the Moon (mind) and the Lagna (body). Too much affliction of any of the three factors will result in some kind of mental or physical disease or disturbance.
Saturn is the planet associated with the consumption as its ruler. Tendency to suffer from this disease is usually seen in the chart in which Saturn and Mars are in the 6th house with a powerful aspect of Rahu and the Sun. Lagna (Ascendant>) being hemmed in between Rahu and Ketu. All these symptoms indicate death due to tuberculosis in malefic dasha.   
The presence of Rahu or Ketu in the 6th is also indicative of tuberculosis tendencies. If the Moon is badly afflicted, then the root cause of tuberculosis will be Mental. If Venus is highly afflicted with Rahu and Mars, then the native may experience consumption after marriage. If the 6th or 8th lord is with Rahu, then also the native is likely to suffer from tuberculosis.

Classification of tuberculosis as per Astrology

A complete analysis of a large number of horoscopes of people who died due to tuberculosis reveals that all the malefics have their share of evil to contribute. It has been found that even afflicted Mercury gives the same results.

• Consumption of bowels is caused by Saturn or Rahu’s affliction in Virgo. It is more effective when virgo is lagna. Inflammatory tubercular trouble in the bowels will be caused if Mars is in the common Navamsa, particularly Virgo. The same happens when aspecting Sun is in Libra.
• If the Sun and Saturn are in the mutual kendras afflicting the Lagna, the death of the native is caused by phthisis.
• If Gemini is Lagna and the Sun occupies the sign being afflicted, pulmonary tuberculosis will be caused.
• If the Sun is afflicted in the common sign, consumption of lungs can also occur.
• The Moon in debilitation associated with the Sun and aspected by the Mars or Saturn gives rise to pulmonary consumption.
• Rahu in the 8th, Mandi in a kendra and the lord of Lagna in the 8th cause consumption in 28th year.

Other indications of Kshayaroga (Tuberculosis)

• Mercury in the 6th with Mars aspected by Venus and the Moon.
• The Moon hemmed in between Saturn and Mars and the Sun is in Capricorn.
• The Moon in Conjunction with Saturn and aspected by Saturn.
