Deeptadi Avasthas

Planets on account of their incessant movement get into certain state of existence called avasthas. Depending on their position in the chart and the other conditions, Indian astrology classifies the conditions of the planets into 5 different sets of avasthas. They are:

  • Baladi Avasthas - Set of 5 avasthas
  • Jagradadi Avasthas - Set of 3 avasthas
  • Lajjitadi Avasthas - Set of 6 avasthas
  • Deeptadi Avasthas - Set of 9 avasthas
  • Sayanadi Avasthas - Set of 12 avasthas

It is a very detailed and complicated study as to how a planet in each of the 5 types of
sets of avasthas behaves. Based on that the results given by each planet for each type
of the sets of avasthas is taken into consideration while giving predictions.

Fundamentally 3 avasthas are taken into consideration

  • Baladi Avasthas - deals with the physical state of body systems
  • Sayanadi Avasthas - deals with the awareness of Mind
  • deeptadi Avasthas - deals with the light of of the soul

Subsets of Deeptadi Avasthas Are:

  • Dipta : Bright
  • Svastha : Contentment
  • Mudita : Delighted
  • Santa : Peaceful
  • Dina :  Depression
  • Dukhita : Distressed
  • Vikala :  Crippled
  • Khala : Mischievious
  • Kopa : furious
  • Deepta : In the condition when planet is placed in exalted sign ( rashi) when the avastha is Deepta it means that the results wil be Bright.
  • Swastha : In the condition, when the planet is placed in its own sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Swastha it means Contentment.
  • Mudita: In the condition, when the planet is placed in its great friendly sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Mudita it means Delighted.
  • Shanta : In the condition, when the planet is placed in its friendly sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Shanta it means Peaceful.
  • Dina : In the condition, when the planet is placed in its neutral sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Din it means Depression.
  • Dukhita : In the condition, when the planet is placed in its enemy sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Dukhita it means Distressed.
  • Vikala : In the condition, when the planet is placed in it is in yuti with the malefic sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Vikala it means Crippled.
  • Khala : In the condition, when the planet is placed in its great enemy sign (rashi)  when the avastha is Khala it means Mischievous.
  • Kopa :In the condition, when the planet is being eclipsed by Sun  when the avastha is Kopa  it means anger, furious.

Depending on such a state of the planet, thee house occupied by it will obtain corresponding effects. The learned should estimate the effects, due to a House. After ascertaining the strength and weakness. Weak Planets cause reduction in good effects, while stronger ones give greater effects
