Bloody planet-Red Planet
‘Bloody’ is the adjective form of blood. The literal meaning bloody is ‘stained with blood’ or ‘accompanied by or giving rise to bloodshed’ or ‘colour of blood’. The astrological meaning of ‘bloody’ with reference to a planet is a hot, dry and fiery planet.
The Greeks named the fourth planet ‘Mars’ as the ‘bloody planet’ or a ‘red planet’ because this planet shines in sky with red colour resembling blood. Mars is a hot, dry, fiery and violent planet.
Mars was a Roman war god and the symbol formed of this planet was also a warrior with shield and spear in his hand. According to Greeks “like a badge of blood in the sky, the red planet has long stood for the gods of war.” Romans named the third month of the year ‘March’ , in the honour of Mars.
