Significance of Houses and their Features

Vedic Astrology is based on 12 houses, 9 planets and 27 constellations. To apply Vedic Astrology, the birth date and time is considered to create birth horoscope. This birth horoscope has 12 houses, which depict different aspects of an individual’s life. Let us try and understand these 12 houses.

First House

This is also known as Lagna or ascendant. It represents physical stature, nature of cough and cold, complexion, fame-disgrace, ancestors, pleasure-pain, self-confidence, ego, mental status etc.

Second House

It is also known as the house of wealth. It represents financial status of the person, pleasure of family, condition of house, right eye, voice, tongue,  elementary education, details of property etc.

Third House

It also known as the house of courage. It represents courage in a person, siblings, servants, patience, neck and lungs, shoulders and hands etc.

Fourth House

It is also known as the house of mother. It represents happiness from mother, native place, residence, vehicles, garden, land -property, friends, disease of lungs and stomach, mental status etc.

Fifth House

It is also known as the house of progeny. It represents child, happiness from children, wisdom, higher education, patriotism, digestive power, creativity , interest of mysterious books, sudden prosperity, glory in love affairs, change in job etc.

Sixth House

It is also known as the house of illness or disease. It represents enemies of the person, diseases, fear, stress, fights, court cases, pleasure of uncles and aunts, servants etc.

Seventh House

It is also known as the house of marriage. It represents happiness from marriage, partnership, nature of spouse, business, partnership, settling in abroad, court cases etc.

Eight House

It is also known as the house of death. It represents age, sorrows, financial status, mental stress, sudden tragedies etc.

Ninth House

It is also known as the House of Fortune. It represents spiritual progress, luck, wisdom, teacher, travelling abroad, writing a grantha text, pilgrimage, sister-in-law etc.

Tenth House

It is known as the house of profession. It represents post, reputation, boss, social respect, efficiency, happiness from father, job, business, government benefits, knee pain, mother in law etc.

Eleventh House

It is also known as house of profit. It represents friends, daughter-son in law, gifts, benefits, income source, calf.

Twelfth House

It is also known as the house of expenses. It represents debts, loss, exile, retirement, unethical behavior, addiction, secret enemies, happiness, suicide, jail time, litigation.
