Worshiping Kubera Dev is considered to provide auspiciousness and financial prosperity in life. Kubera Puja is performed especially during Diwali. Kubera ji is considered the leader and the Lord of immense wealth. He is not only the God of wealth but also the king of the Yakshas. Kuber is the God of wealth, so worshiping him brings wealth. He is a Dikpal the protector of north direction and also Lokpal the protector of people. Therefore, the place of Kubera is also very important in Vastu Shastra.
There are many stories in the context of Kubera. Maharishi Pulastya’s son Mahamuni was Ravana’s half-brother and the son of Vishvara. Kubera was believed to be born to Vishvara’s wife Ilavila. According to some, Brahma had created Kuber and made him the owner of wealth. As per yet another story, Kubera attained the position of Lord of directions and Lokpal only by doing a lot of penance.
Kuber Form
In the mythological stories, Kubera Ji is described to be fair, with a large stomach, Ashtadanta and with three feet. His mode of transport is a donkey. Kubera’s sons are Nalakubara and Manigreeva. It is said that Kubera started his penance on Mount Himalaya to please Lord Shankar.
In the midst of penance, he sees Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Kuber looks at Parvati with his left eye. Due to Parvati’s divine energy his left eye becomes yellow and he loses it. This does not deter him and he continues his penance. Lord Shiva is pleased with Kubera’s severe penance and appears before Kubera. He offers a boon to Kubera and names him “Ekakshipingal” as one of his eyes get destroyed. He gives Kubera special powers. Shiva makes Lord Kubera his favorite.
It is believed that Ravana attacked Kubera and snatched Pushpak aircraft from him. He also captured Lanka Puri and all the wealth of Kubera. To find a resolution Kubera seeks his grandfather Bhramaji’s advice. Bhramaji asks him to worship Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is pleased with Kuber and makes him the Lord of wealth and gives him the status of Dhanesh.
Kuber Puja is done on Diwali
Along with Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi Puja on Diwali, Kubera ji is also worshiped specifically. This is because when Kuber Puja is done on this day brings auspicious results. In fact, it is believed that Diwali Puja is incomplete without Kuber Puja. Therefore, on this day Kubera Ji is worshipped. Kubera then blesses the devotee and the devotee also receives a lot of property and wealth.
Lord Kubera is also said to be the server of Mother Lakshmi. He takes care of all wealth and accounts. On the day of Diwali, along with worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, one should worship Kuber ji. If you do not do this then you cannot get blessings of Maa Lakshmi. When a devotee along with the regular worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, worships Lord Kuber, he/she is blessed with immense wealth and will be able to get rid of all debts.
How to do perform Kuber Puja
It is possible to attain wealth only through Kuber Puja. When Lord Kubera is worshipped at an auspicious time, he blesses the devotee. Therefore, if you worship Kubera with reverence, there will be no lack of money in your life.
Clean the temple of the place of worship. Sprinkle some Ganga water. Once the area is purified place a red cloth on it. The idol or picture of Laxmi Ganesha should also be placed in Lord Kuber’s worship.
Next Akshat should be sprinkled over the place of worship. After setting the idol or picture, jewelry or expensive articles should be kept in front of Lord Kuber. Then a Swastika symbol should be drawn on one of the articles kept in front of Lord Kuber.
After this, Tilak should be applied to Kubera Dev, Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesh ji and Tilak should also be applied to all jewelry and money. Akshat should also be sprinkled.
Lord Kubera, all Gods and Goddesses should be offered flowers and garlands. Flowers should also be offered on jewelry and money.
After this the Kubera Mantra “Twam Dhanadhish Gruhe Te Kamla Sthita. De Devi Apadhyasu Twam Madgruhe Te Namo Namah:” Mantra should be recited. Lord Kuber should be worshiped with incense and lamps and something sweet should be offered to him. In the end, one should pray for prosperity in life, and seek the blessings of Lord Kuber.
Kuber Puja is done on the day of Dhanteras
Lakshmi is attained by worshiping Lord Kubera on the day of Dhanteras or say Dhan Trayodashi. Kubera is considered a representative of Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, economic happiness cannot be attained without worshiping Kubera Ji. There is no shortage of money and food grains in the household which performs Kuber Puja on this day. Lord Kubera is also the God of ornaments and worshiping him this day blesses the devotee with gold, silver, diamond jewelry in life. Those surrounded by money related problems should worship Kuber Ji on this day. This eliminates their money related problems.
Kubera Mantra
Along with the worship of Lord Kubera, one should chant the Kuber Mantra. Chanting the Kubera Mantra regularly opens the doors of prosperity – “

- ” Om Yakshaay Kuberaay Vaishravanaay, Dhan Dhanyaadhipataye Dhan Dhaany Samrddhi Me Dehi Daapay Svaaha”
