Mahalaxmi fast story
In ancient times there used to be a beautiful city called Purandarpur. A King named Mangalsen ruled the city. The city was rich and was filled with all the material comforts and wealth. The city was blessed with gemstones. The residents there were also full of happiness. King Mangalsen had two queens, Chill and Chola.
Once King Mangal was sitting at the palace patio with his queen Chola. He points out a specific place in the palace and tells his wife that he will beautify it. The king built a very beautiful garden at that place. Once a swine enters that garden and spoils that garden. The soldiers narrate this news to the King. The King sets out with the army to kill the swine. Chasing the swine the King reaches a forest. There he hunts down the swine with his bow and arrow. As soon as the swine gets killed, its soul appears in the divine Gandharva form.
Gandharva thanks the King for freeing him from the swine's body. He says “Hey Rajan! I am pleased, if you observe the Mahalakshmi fast then in the future you will be able to rule this land well for several years”. The King follows Gandharva’s instructions. He observes the Mahalakshmi fast and worships the Devi. As a result, he gets blessed with a lot of prosperity, becomes a great King and lives happily thereafter.
