Narada Jayanti 2024

Narada Muni ji is said to be the Manas Putra of Brahma. This year Narada Jayanti will be celebrated on Saturday on 25 May 2024. On the occasion of this Narada Jayanti, many religious programs are organized across the country.

Narada Muni always has the blessing of always being on the move. Therefore, he never stays in one place for long. The second day of the Krishna Paksha of Jyeshtha month is celebrated as Narada Jayanti. According to Hindu scriptures, Narada is considered one of the seven Manas sons of Brahma. Narada is considered the sage of the Gods. For this reason, he is also called Devarshi. It is believed that Narada keeps wandering in the three worlds.

Devarshi Narada’s public welfare sentiment

Narada Muni is a devotee of Lord Vishnu. He keeps moving from one place to another chanting ‘Narayana Narayana’. Devarshi Narada is an amazing combination of devotion and power. He is also an important sage who propagates the sentiment of public welfare at a steady pace.

As per religious scripts, Naradji travels across the three worlds. Whenever he finds a problem, he communicates the same to the Lord. He helps everyone. He is worshipped both by Devas and Daityas. People from all classes respect him. This is because he is not prejudiced against any particular class. He is very just and does not distinguish between two different classes. He is hence respected by one and all.

In the Vedas and Puranas, many stories are found in the context of Rishi Narada. His presence in all the scriptures, be it Shiv Puran or Vishnu Purana and so on is evident. In the Bhagavad, Shri Vishnu calls himself Narada. In the context of Ramayana too, his role is very prominent. Devarshi Narada popularised religion. All of this proves his remarkable role.

Narada Muni was an Author of Scriptures and had in depth Veena Gyan

Narada Muni's main musical instrument was the Veena. He eliminated the sufferings of all the people through his Veena. He is always seen reciting Narayan while playing his Veena. He would always be on the forefront and serve mankind.

Narada ji received education in music from Lord Brahma. Narada was proficient in many arts and disciplines. Narada Muni is also called Trikaldarshi. Brahmrishi Narada was considered the creator of the scriptures, a teacher, devoted and knowledgeable of the Vedas. His role in developing music has also been important.

Work done by Narada Muni

Many works done by Narada Muni are described as being important in the operation of the universe. Narada was the binding factor between various relationships amongst various Gods and Goddesses. The marriage between Sri Lakshmi and Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the relationship between Urvashi and Pururava etc. The destruction of Jalandhar by Mahadev. He also inspired Valmiki to write the Ramayana and Vyasji to compose the Bhagwat. In this way, Narada Muni was responsible for a lot of things.

According to Harivansh Purana, Narada ji played a vital role in giving freedom from worldly ties to thousands of sons of Daksha Prajapati again and again. Narada could convince Daksha's sons to abandon the world. In the Maitri Samhita, Narada has been established as an Acharya.

Narada's role in astrology

Devarshi Narada ji has been said to have played a crucial role in astrology. He composed many important sources of astrology with great devotion through his knowledge. He had such an astounding knowledge of astrology that this knowledge went beyond everyone.

सूर्य: पितमहो व्यासो वशिष्ठोअत्रि पराशर: ।

कश्यपो नारदो गर्गो मरिचिमनु अंगिरा ।।

लोमश: पोलिशाशचैव च्यवनो यवनों मृगु: ।

शोनेको अष्टादशाश्चैते ज्योति: शास्त्र प्रवर्तका ।।

Through these couplets, we get to know the importance of Narada's among 18 sages who made special contributions to astrology.

Devarshi Narada drafted and completed Nardiya Astrology. Knowledge of astrology is also obtained from Lord Brahma. Narada Purana is also the essence of his creation, it is believed that when one studies this Purana, he/she is freed from all his/her sins. Narada Ji has listed out many Sutras related to Vastu Shastra. In this, the rules related to the architecture of the house are described. Knowledge of directions is also found in this.

Not only is Narada Purana an astrological text but it is a religious book as well. The book educates one on various rituals and worship of religious Mantras. Certain explanations in Narad Puran are related to astrology.

Naradji has also written about various planets and their effects. He has also mentioned about the worship methods of Lord Vishnu, Shri Ganesh and Hanuman ji. Details on religious discipline, rituals, the importance of devotion, science, rituals, seasons and twelve-month fasting rules, etc. are also found in the Narada Purana.

Narada Jayanti Pujan

On the occasion of Narada Jayanti, Puja recitations and Bhajan Kirtans under the name of Lord Vishnu are performed all over the country. The Bhagavad Katha is recited at this time. It is believed Narada Muni was born from the lap of Brahmaji, the creator of the world. According to Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Narada appears from Brahma's throat. Devarshi Narad ji guides everyone. He is also considered the Guru of sages Shuk Dev, Vyas and Maharishi Valmiki.
