How to Perform Deepavali Puja?
Diwali is specially related to the worshipping of Goddess Lakshmi. This day, Goddess Lakshmi is welcomed through Puja performed in every house, family, office etc. On the day of Diwali, married and commercial class people ask for prosperity from Goddess Lakshmi. Whereas, saints and Tantrics wish to have special power attainment and perform Tantric acts at night, on this day.
Materials required for Puja
- Idols of Goddess Lakshmi and lord Ganesh (in a seating position).
- Keser, Roli, rice, betel-leaves, betel-nut, fruits, flowers, milk, Kheer, Batashe, Sindoor, honey, coins, cloves.
- Dry fruits, sweets, curd, Ganga Jal, incense sticks, 11 lamps.
- Cotton, Kalava(red thread), coconut and copper urn.
How to do Diwali Puja
Draw the Navgreh or establish the Navgreh Yantra in a plate or clean and pure ground. Also, place an urn of copper containing Ganga Jal, curd, honey, betel-nut, coin, cloves etc and cover it with a red colored cloth. Place a dried coconut , tied with Kalawa and place it on the urn.
Money, coins of silver or gold, idol of Goddess Lakshmi, lord Ganesha, Brahma or Lakshmi made of mud, picture of lord Mahesh or other God and Goddesses are decorated at the place where the Navgreh Yantra is made. If there is an idol made of metal then consider it as original form Goddess and, make it bath with milk, curd and Ganga Jal. Now, decorate it with flower and make up is done with Akshat and Sindoor. On the right side, Panchmukhi lamp is lighted which should have ghee or oil of Til.
What is the best method of Lakshmi Puja?
Take Akshat, flower and water in hand. Also, keep some money. Then the resolution is taken that “I, a certain person at a certain place is going to worship certain and God and Goddess, so that, I get best results”. First and foremost, we worship lord Ganesha and Goddess Gauri.
Take some water in hands and chant the Puja mantra, ऊँ दीपावल्यै नम:. Now, offer the Puja material. Take Akshat in hand and say the Navgreh Stotra. The Puja is concluded with the Aarti of Goddess Lakshmi.
What is Mahi- Khata Puja?
For performing the Pujan of Mahi - Khata, Swastika is drawn using Kesar and sandalwood on the new Mahi and Khata books in the Puja Muhurat time. After this, "श्री गणेशाय नम:" is written on the book. In a bag, keep 5 pieces of turmeric, lotus bundle, Akshat, grass, coriander and donation. Now, put the swastika symbol on it and offer it to Goddess Saraswati. Then chant the following mantra for 108 times.
या कुन्देन्दुतुषारहारधवला या शुभ्रवस्त्रावृता,
या वीणावरदण्डण्डितकरा या श्वेतपद्मासना।,
या ब्रह्माच्युतशंकरप्रभृतिभि र्देवै: सदा वन्दिता,
सा मां पातु सरस्वती भगवती नि:शेषजाड्यापहा।।
ऊँ वीणापुस्तकधारिण्यै श्रीसरस्वत्यै नम:
After the chanting of mantra, Goddess is worshipped saying :
"The one who holds, the shed of lotus, Hal, Shul, shell, Chakra, pestle, bow and arrow. She has the elegant radiance as of moon. Who killed demons like Shumba etc. the one who’s form is the seed of voice and who completes with Sachidanandmay Vigrah. I worship that Bhagwati Saraswati."
Later the Mahi- Kahata is worshipped with incense sticks, flowers, essance, lamps, Navedya and the following mantra are chanted.
" ऊँ वीणा पुस्तक धारिणी सरस्वती" आपको नमस्कार हैं.
Kuber Puja Method in Brief
Pradosh Kal and Nishit Kal is used for Kuber Pujan.
For performing Kuber Pujan, Swastika is draw on locker or the box used to store money and lord Kuber is called upon. Following mantras are chanted for inviting lord.
आवाहयामि देव त्वामिहायाहि कृपां कुरु।
कोशं वद्र्धय नित्यं त्वं परिरक्ष सुरेश्वर।।
After this, the mantra ऊँ कुबेराय नम: is chanted for 108 times and the locker is worshipped with incense sticks, flowers etc. And, worship lord Kuber by chanting the following mantra
धनदाय नमस्तुभ्यं निधिपद्माधिपाय च।
भगवान् त्वत्प्रसादेन धनधान्यादिसम्पद:।।
After the Puja, the bag containing turmeric, coriander, money, grass etc, is kept in the locker.
