Amavasya 2024 : On what dates is Amavasya
Amavasya is a day filled with darkness. On this day the Moon vanishes completely and cannot be seen at all. As per Hindu religion, Amavasya is considered very important to carry out Pitru Karya as this day is considered the day of Pitru. Pitru means our departed ancestors.
Pitron are considered the Dev of Amavasya Tithi. This day is therefore considered very important for Tarpan. Any form of offerings to Pitron on the day of Amavasya is believed to relieve a person on Pitru Dosha as it brings peace to Pitron. Snan (bath) in holy water during Amavasya also holds great importance.
