Auspicious Yoga Pose
Swastikasana is an Indian translation for Auspicious Yoga pose. It is considered to be one of the easiest meditation asanas. Some believe that it is a simplified version of Siddhasana. The symbol of swastika symbolizes the different corners of the earth and universe, the spokes, and their meeting point and common centre of consciousness. Auspicious Yoga pose is most favored for realizing the unity of existence.
The Auspicious Yoga pose is also known as the Prosperous Yoga pose. It is a classic sitting posture for meditation and an easy one to start with.
First of all, you should place your left foot against the right inner thigh with the back of the heel to the right side of the pubic bone. The outer edge of your left foot should be resting against the floor.
Once you have done this, tuck the lateral side of your right foot between the left leg and thigh. Your right ankle should now be to the left of your left ankle. They should cross over one another in the midline (naval line that divides the body into two equal halves, left and right).
In the Auspicious Yoga pose, your ankles should be placed beyond the midsagittal plane (midline), so they cross one another. They should not be on top of one another. The left foot should be pulled up between the right calf and thigh. The right foot is inserted between the left calf and thigh.
Your heels should be far apart from each other, so that the ankles are not direct on top of each other. Pull the left foot up so that it is fixed between the calf and thigh muscles.
Straighten the spine and place the hands on the knees with the palms facing down.
Alternate the foot positions between each yoga practice.
