Importance of Chanting Mantra

Several ancient scriptures have mentioned the significance of chanting mantras in detail. In Indian culture, the practice of chanting mantra has been a norm since ancient times. There are more than thousands of mantras mentioned in ancient vedas. The base for the power and strength of these mantras lies in the faith of a person chanting them. By chanting mantra one gets a purified soul, body and environment. These small mantras emit the sense of positivity and provide a person with immense inner strength. A person is able to get relief from the sufferings and troubles of his life. The influence of these mantras is so powerful that they compel the god to provide relief from the sufferings to the devotee.

Clear pronunciation of mantras is known as verbal chanting mantra, while the mantras that are chanted silently in the heart is known as manas jaap. It is believed that mantra chanting performed during the eclipse is very auspicious and gives good results.

It is necessary to keep your heart and mind calm while chanting the mantra. A person needs to be totally dedicated and devoted while chanting the mantras. Vedic scriptures have talked about the glory of mantra chanting stating that, a person who perform this practice with faith and devotion is able to attain, power, longevity, wealth, and salvation.

A person who wants to chant mantras should maintain the purity of his heart and body. He should be fully devoted in the worship of god and begin with chanting, “Om”. The person should always be seated on a clean platform made with silk, cotton, deer skin etc. while chanting the mantra. The significance of seating on a platform lies in the fact that the energy that we possess while chanting the mantra is absorbed by the earth in the absence of it.

Mantras should be chanted in an isolated place with total dedication and a pure heart. It can be performed in a forest, temple, bank of any river, isolated place or an isolated corner of the house. Lighting a lamp in front of you while chanting the mantra gives beneficial results. The practice of mantra chanting can only be completed  with faith, worshipping of god, rosary, japa, homas and patience.
