Falgun or Fagun is a colorful month. The weather is so good that it touches the hearts. Everything around looks scenic and beautiful. As per ancient scriptures the Moon is has special importance in this month.

Worshipping the Moon, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are considered important in this month. During Falgun Goddess Laxmi and Goddess Sita are also worshiped. Falgun is the 12th Moon month or the last one and nature appears in a different perspective. During this month Goddess Shakti is also worshiped. The fourth day of Falgun is celebrated as Shivratri. On this day Lord Shiva is worshiped. According to Puranas, the beginning of the world started on this day. Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati were married on this day and hence they are worshipped. Shivratri comes every month, when it falls in the Falgun month it is celebrated as Mahashivratri.

  • During this month a person should take great care of his diet.
  • Eat a normal and balanced diet.
  • Bathe in freshwater and avoid warm water, if possible then take a dip in the Ganga river.
  • Reduce the intake of rice, wheat and other whole foods. Consume raw and fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Keep yourself neat and clean, same should reflect in behavior also.
  • Stay away from tamasic food and drinks like non-vegetarian, deep fried food and alcohol.

  • Worshiping Lord Krishna with flowers and fruits.
  • Offer Bel leaves to Lord Shiva.
  • Offer musk perfume and pink color to the Lords on the Poornima of this month.
  • For financial and family prosperity offer Kumkum and sandal perfume to Maa Parvati and Maa Laxmi.
