Saint Manu is respected and honoured in Indian astrology’s history. Saint Manu not only created religious texts but also a number of different astrological texts which have been considered very important in Indian astrology. His main work is called Manu Sanhita or Manu Smriti. A famous temple has been built in Manali in memory of Saint Manu. This is an ancient temple and is totally dedicated to Saint Manu. According to beliefs, Saint Manu was the one who recreated mankind.
Along with being a scholar in astrology, Saint Manu was also a religious practitioner. He had all the knowledge related to various religious practices, their procedure and their importance. He has talked about these subjects in Manu Smriti. He has been considered the best scholar in the world related to Karma.
What is Manusmriti
Manu Smriti is also known by the name Manu Sanhita. Manu Smriti is a famous religious text. This is a text written by Saint Manu and includes a lot of different chapters. It talks about all the principles, morals and schedules that a person should follow. Various duties and responsibilities related to life have also been talked about.
In total, Manu Smriti has 12 chapters and 2694 Shlokas. Manu Smriti is the largest of all the Hindu religious texts. According to Manu Smriti, a person should not only fulfill his responsibilities towards Lord but also towards other people and his own family. It also talks about the various morals and principles that a person should follow throughout his life in order to attain salvation.
Surya Pragyapati
Surya Pragyapati text talks about the Sun, Solar system, speed of the Sun, cc and auspicious timings. It is considered to be the most important text related to Hindu astrology. It is ancient and acts an an evidence for astrology. Surya Pragyapati has been written in a simple and common language. The topics covered in it are speed of the Sun, longevity and the solar system.
Along with this, Surya Pragyapati also says that the western countries possess two Suns and two Moons. Each Sun has 28 Nakshatras. The Sun and the Nakshatras are in continuous movement, therefore the Sun appears to be one. Surya Pragyapati also talks about days, months, fortnight etc.
Surya Pragyapati Texts Description
According to Manu Smriti, the Sun moves into the northern solstice through the outer western path. The speed of the Sun while moving on this path is slow. This is the reason why this period is used for auspicious works. Th hours of a day during this period are considered to be twenty four. In the same way, the Sun moves into the southern solstice but with a high speed. During this period, the day is considered to include nine hours and thirty six minutes. The night time is believed to be of eighteen hours.
This text also talks about the hours of a day in different places on the Earth. According to Manu Smriti, the physical features of the Earth are different in different places like the mountains, plains, plateaus etc.
Surya Pragyapati Ayan
According to this granth, first Ayan of the Yoga is Dakshinayan, Shravan Maas, Krishna Paksha, Pratipada, and Abhijit Nakshatra. The second Ayan is Uttarayan, Magha Maas, Krishna Saptami in Hasta Nakshatra. The third Ayan is Dakshinayan, Sravan Maas, Krishnapaksh Trayodashi in Mrigshira Nakshatra.
The fourth is Uttarayan, Magha Maas, Shuklapaksha Chaturthi in Vishakha Nakshatra. The sixth is Uttarayan, Magha, Krishna Paksha Pratipada in Pushya Nakshatra. The seventh is Ayan, Krishnapaksha, Saptami in Revati Nakshatra. The eighth his Uttarayan, Magha, Krishnapaksha Trayodasha in Moola Nakshatra. The ninht is Dakshinayan Shravan maas, Shukla paksha, Navami in Purvafalguni Nakshatra. The tenth is Uttarayan Magha Krishna paksha Trayodashi in Krittika Nakshatra.
