Activities Related to Tithis | Meaning of Tithis

There is no Muhurat without Tithis. Tithis have an important place in astrology. Different works are done on different Tithis. Muhurats related to different works have been divided according to Tithis. 

PratipadaTithi Of Krishna Paksha

This Tithi is related to works and things like construction of house, shifting to a new home, Cultural values, Chaul Karma, Vastu Karma, Marriage, Travelling,  fame and nutrition. Moon has been considered to be strong during Krishna Paksha’s Pratipada. 

Moon has been considered to be weak in Shukla Paksha’s Pratipada. Hence, all the above mentioned works should not be carried out during this period.

DwitiyaTithi of Both Pakshas

Some works that have been considered to be auspicious are marriage, travel, buying ornaments, music as an education, matters related to state and country, Vastu Karma etc. Oiling is prohibited in this Tithi.

TritiyaTithi

Some auspicious works which are related to this Tithi are music, sculpting, wearing bangles, food, shifting to a new home, marriage, travel, matters related to state etc.

ChaturthiTithi

This Tithi is considered to be auspicious for works related to electronics, removal of enemies, fire-related work, weapons etc. This date is considered to be good for brutal works. 

PanchamiTithi 

This Tithi is good for doing any auspicious work. This date is considered appropriate for all trends. This date is considered inauspicious for lending money. Anyone lending money incurs losses. All works mentioned in the Dwitiya and Tritiya Tithis can be done in Panchami Tithi.

ShashtiTithi

This Tithi is good for War-craft works, Vastu karma, beginning to stay in a new home and wearing  new garments. This Tithi is inauspicious for Tailabhyang, Abhyang, Kashth Karma, traffic, etc. 

SaptamiTithi 

This Tithi is auspicious for marriage, music-related work, construction and new ornaments. Travel, Bride’s access to home, shifting to a new home, state related work, Vastu karma, Upanan values, etc. can also be done.In addition, works mentioned in Dwitiya, Tritiya and Panchami Tithi can also be done .

AshtamiTithi

This Tithi is related to works like writing assignments, war related work, Vastu Karma, craft-related work, work related to gems, weapons - weapons possession etc. can be done. Meat should not be eaten on this Tithi. 

NavamiTithi

This Tithi is related to hunting, fighting, gambling, building weapons, construction, alcohol and all types of cruel deeds. Works done on Chaturthi Tithi can also be done on Navami Tithi.

DasamiTithi

This Tithi is good for government related works. Works related to horses, elephants, marriage, music, garments, ornaments, beginning to stay in a new home, shifting to a new home, bride’s access to a new home and travel can also be done on this Tithi. Works done on Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami and Saptami Tithi can also be done on Dasami Tithi. 

EkadashiTithi

This Tithi is good for fasts, religious works, festivals, Vastu Karma, war related works, craft, thread, and travel.

DwadashiTithi

Works related to marriage, cars, work on roads and nutrition can be done. This Tithi is not good for construction of a new home, shifting into a new home and travel. 

TrayodashiTithi of ShuklaPaksha

Works related to this Tithi are of war, military, weapons, flags, banners on the building work, state related work, architectural work and music. All kinds of auspicious works can be done on this Tithi. Works related to travel, shifting to a new home, wearing new clothes-ornaments and Yagyopaveet should be avoided on this Tithi. Works done on Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami and Dwadashi Tithi can be done on this Tithi. 

ChaturdashiTithi

All kinds can be brutal and aggressive act are done on this Tithi. Arms, etc. can be used. Travel is prohibited on this Tithi. Works done on Chaturthi Tithi can also be done. 

PurnimaTithi

Works related to crafts, ornaments etc can be done. Also works related to War, marriage, sacrifice, water, travel, peace, and nurture can be carried out.

Amavasya 

Works like Mahadan and Pitra Karma are carried out on this Tithi. Companionship of a woman should be avoided.

Meaning of Tithis

Pratipada Tithi is considered to be ‘Vriddhiprad’.

Dwitiya Tithi is considered to be ‘Mangalprad’.

Tritiya Tithi is considered to be ‘Balprad’. It increases strength. 

Chaturthi Tithi is known as ‘Khal’. It is considered to be inauspicious.

Panchami Tithi is known as ‘Lakshmiprad’. It increases wealth.

Shashthi Tithi is known as ‘Yashprad’. It provides a person with fame.

Saptami Tithi is considered to be ‘Mitra’.

Ashtami Tithi has been called ‘Dwandwa’. It creates differences.

Navami Tithi is called ‘Ugra’. It is considered to be aggressive.

Dasami Tithi is known as ‘Saumya’.

Ekadashi Tithi is called ‘Anandprad’.
