There are 12 signs in Indian Astrology. These are :

Ownership of these signs is given to seven planets. Rahu-Ketu are fictional planets, they do not have any physical presence. That is why Rahu-Ketu have not been assigned the ownership of any sign. The seven planets are given the following signs.

Aries - Mars

Ownership of Aries is given to the planet Mars. Aries makes a person ambitious, leading and enthusiastic.

For example, if Aries sits in the ascendant house, then the person automatically has the above mentioned qualities.

First house of horoscope is called the ascendant house or Lagna Bhava. It is also known as Pratham Bhava or First House. The first house in horoscope represents the nature and thoughts of the person. Taurus-Venus

Taurus is the sign of Venus and Venus is the lord of Taurus. Venus is a gentle and benefic planet. It is the Karak planet of all material goods, and is known to give pleasure and luxury.

Gemini- Mercury

Mercury is the lord of Gemini. Mercury gives the person intellectual ability. It brings versatility in his nature. If this sign in is the ascendant house, then the person has good sense of humour.

Cancer - Moon

Moon has the ownership of just one sign, Cancer.

Leo - Sun

Sun has the ownership of Leo.

Virgo - Mercury

The ownership for Virgo sign is given to Mercury.

Libra - Venus
