Festival in the Month of Jyeshtha : Jyeshtha Sankranti 2023, 15th May

vaisakh sankranti 2023 On Jyestha Sankranti, the Sun will enter Taurus. This Sankranti will start on May 15, 2023, at 11:44 minutes on Monday. The auspicious time of this Jyestha Sankranti will be from 05:20 in the morning.


The main festivals of this month are Ekadashi, Amavasya, Ganga Dushehra and Nirjala Ekadashi etc. On the day of Sankranti, observing fast and donating things like: pitcher, , wheat, rice, sattu, milk, sugar, fruits, clothes, umbrella, fan and other things used in the summer are considered important. Worshipping Lord Vishnu and chanting the Mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay” and his thousand names are considered of great importance.


Shri Satyanarayan Fast: 05th May 2023

In 2023, performing Shri Satyanarayan pooja on 05th May will be good. Observing fast on this day is considered beneficial. Doing Katha along with observing fast increases the auspiciousness of its fruits.


Shri Budh Poornima: 05th May 2023

Vaishakh Poornima is on 05th May. It is mainly celebrated in Amritsar. All day people remain engaged in religious activities. In the morning(Brahmamuhurt), the devotees take bath and worship Peepal tree. In Vaishakh, donating things used in summer season like: hand fan, pitcher, Mango sharbat etc., are considered good.


Shri Ganesh Chaturthi Fast: 08th May 2023

Shri Ganesh Chaturthi fast is observed to get the blessings of Lord Shri Ganesh. Shri Ganesh gives success and is the symbol of auspiciousness. Ganesh is worshipped first in all the Gods. Worshipping Ganesh on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi fulfills the wishes of the devotees. This Chaturthi is also called Patthar Chauth.


Panchak Begins: 12nd May 2023

Any auspicious work may not be started during Panchak. Panchak is of near about 4 and ½ days. If any one dies during Panchak then five effigies of hays are made and last rites are performed ritually along with the dead body. Things prohibited during Panchak are accumulating fuels, constructing roof, travelling in the south direction, etc..


Amavasya: 19th May 2023

Amavasya falls on a day before the beginning of Shukla Paksha. On this day, soul pacification works of ancestors are performed. Taking name of ancestors, performing Tarpan, cooking kheer and chapatis and feeding that to Crows removes Pitra Dosh. Person having problem in conceiving a child should also perform Amavasya Poojan.


Shri Durga Ashtami: 28th May 2023

In 2023, Durga Ashtami is on 28th May. This festival of Durga Ashtami is celebrated with full faith and enthusiasm. On this day, people worship Goddess Durga and offer Kheer and other dishes as sacraments. Worshipping small girl child, offering them Halwa Puri, giving them Dakshina and other things are considered auspicious.


Ganga Dushehra Festival: 30th May 2023

Ganga Snan(bath) has always been auspicious. On the day of Ganga Dushehra, a huge crowd of devotees gather to take bath in the river Ganga. In the morning, the Ganga should be worshipped with flowers, Akshat, Sandalwood, Jaggery, incense-sticks, coco-nut, fruits etc.. Taking bath and donating before worshipping on this day frees the person from all types of physical and mental sins.


Nirjala Ekadashi Fast: 31th May 2023

Ekadashi fast is observed on Ekadashi date of all the Paksha. In 2023, Ekadashi is on 31th May . as per its name, this fast is observed without drinking water throughout the day.
