Importance of Brahma, Maheswari and Rudra in Jaimini Astrology
Brahma
Brahma is the creator and destroyer of everything. Brahma can be used to predict both fortune and misfortune in an individuals life. In Jaimini’s Sthira Dasha we need to determine the strength of the signs first to arrive at calculation of Brahma.
Brahma plays a vital role in analyzing the location of Sthira Dasha and Maraka Dasha in the horoscope. Brahma owns a certain distinction, which a planet obtains by virtue of certain qualifications as per the details given below:
- (A) If the Lord of the 8th house from the Atmakaraka planet is located in the 8th house it becomes eligible for the position of Brahma.
- (B)Ascertain whether the Ascendant or the 7th house is stronger, or else find out who is the strongest Lord among the 6th, 8th and 12th house and it becomes eligible for the position of Brahma.
If Brahma occupies an odd sign with reference to the half of the zodiac, it will count as the 12th to 7th house from the Ascendant and backwards from the 7th to the 6th house when it occupies a place in the even sign.
Some Exceptions
As per the details mentioned above if Saturn, Rahu or Ketu becomes eligible for the position of Brahma, it becomes a nominal Brahma and is automatically disqualified. It is because the real Brahma is the 6th planet from the nominal Brahma counted in the order of Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu.
Selection of Brahma
If two or three planets become eligible for the position of Brahma, then you must select the one with highest longitude. In respect of Rahu, however, the longitude must be measured from the last point of the sign.
If two planets qualify to become Brahma and have same longitude, then select Brahma by Rasi Bala. Rashi Bala is calculated on the basis of Graha Bala, Chara Bala, Sthira Bala and total of the Drishti Bala.Whichever sign gets maximum Bala becomes Brahma.
Sthira Dasha starts from where Brahma is located. In the scheme of Sthira Dasha, a Chara Rashi will get 7years, a Sthira Rashi will get 8years and dual Rashi will get 9 years of Dasha. Sthira Dasha is generally used to get an understanding of the health of the native.
Maheswara
Maheshwara means Mahaan and Ishwara, this means the one who is present in everything. This is calculated to ascertain incidents in the life of the native both good or bad.In a chart eighth house indicates spiritual bliss and eighth house from Atmakaraka is Maheshwara.
The Lord of the 8th house from Atmakaraka is the Maheswara. If the 8th Lord from Atmakaraka is exalted or in its own house Maheswara will be stronger than the Lords of 8th and 12th house from Atmakaraka.
If Rahu and Ketu form a conjunction with Atmakaraka planet or are located in the 8th house from Aatmakaarak planet, then the 6th planet from the Sun becomes Maheswara.
If two or more planets become eligible for Maheswara, the strongest one should be selected.
Rudra
Rudra means Rodyati Sarvam Antkale, the one who makes everyone cry finally. In other words it translates to shedding of tears that melt away the pain or the cause of pain.
The stronger among the 8th and the 2nd Lord from the Ascendant becomes Rudra. If the Lord is weak or is aspected by malefic planets, it becomes nominal or supplemental Rudra.
Saturn can become Rudra or Maheshwara but not Brahma. After selecting Brahma, Rudra and Maheshwara, Sthira Dasha is determined. Sthira Dasha starts from where Brahma is positioned and it will move in a direct method.
