Sun’s transit from one sign to another is called Sankranti. Sankranti is also known as Surya Rashi Parivartan. A lot of religious activities are undertaken this month.

Sun’s transit in 12 signs is Sankranti and so there are 12 Surya Sankrantis. The Sankrantis are named as per the sign, so we have Aries Sankranti, Scorpio Sankranti, Gemini Sankranti, Cancer Sankranti, Leo Sankranti, Virgo Sankranti, Libra Sankranti, Scorpio Sankranti, Sagittarius Sankranti, Capricorn Sankranti, Aquarius Sankranti and Pisces Sankranti.

Importance of Sankranti

The day on which Sankranti occurs is given a lot of importance. Sankranti is impacted by the effects of the corresponding day. If Sankranti falls on an auspicious day, then the auspiciousness of Sankranti increases.
