One should select the auspicious time and auspicious Muhurat for marriage very carefully. While deciding a Vivah Muhurat several aspects should be kept in mind. Jyotish calculations and Muhurat computations should be considered to select a good and precise time for marriage. Not only is it important to consider the Kundali of the bride and groom but it is also equally important to take into consideration an auspicious day and Yoga to decide upon the right time for marriage. 

It is very important to consider 10 Doshas while deciding the Muhurat for marriage. These ten Doshas are Lata, Pat, Yuti, Vedh, Jamitra, Panchban, Ekagarl, Upgrah, Kranti Samay and Dughda Tithi. 1) Panchban - Panchban has (1. Rog, 2. Agni, 3. Nrip, 4. Chor, 5. Mrityu). These Five Banas are considered bad. Out of them, the 'Mrityu' Baan is not taken during the calculation. We must discard the 3. Vedha, Mrityu Bana and Kranti Samya. We must never accept them. Now have 7 Doshas left which must be analyzed with Jyotisha. If according to Jyotisha calculations out of these 7 if 4 Doshas are left, then we use the Lagna Shuddhi (Analysis of the Janmakundalis of the groom and the bride). If the Kundalis are suitable then these Doshas are considered cancelled too. 

According to astrology, there are certain phases or periods which are not considered auspicious to perform marriage rituals. These phases are: displacement of Venus and Jupiter, Solar or Lunar eclipse, Pitra Paksha, Bhishma Panchak etc. Performing marriage ceremonies in these periods is not considered auspicious. Only auspicious dates are considered to conduct a marriage in Hindu culture.

Moon sign of the bride and groom are taken into consideration while calculating an auspicious date for marriage. Other factors such as the phases of Nakshatra in which the bride and groom were born and the letter corresponding to it are also considered while calculating the date. The date of the marriage is calculated only after matching the compatibility charts of the bride and the groom. The date which is auspicious for both the bride and the groom as per their Moon signs respectively is finalized for marriage. For example: If an Aries man is getting married to a Cancer woman, then the common dates thus calculated will be auspicious for marriage.

All the important factors such as Tribal Shudhi, Surya Chandra Shudhi etc. are taken into consideration while calculating marriage dates. If Sun or Jupiter are in their own sign or in the friendly sign of , they are considered auspicious for marriage. At the time of marriage, the bride and the groom should donate things related to the inauspicious planets to maintain the auspiciousness of marriage rituals.

This time is not considered favorable for marriage.

Guru Vardhya will be defective. Aggravation means the condition before the Guru sets in, which is not considered good. The Guru will remain in Balatva This is the situation just after the rise of the Guru, which is not considered auspicious from the point of view of marriage etc.

Venus is the causative planet of marriage, so marriage is not performed in the event of its collapse.

Venus will set in the on 24 April 2024 and then rise in the on 07 July 2024.

Vardity means the condition before the death of Venus, which is not considered auspicious. Until Venus will remain in its childhood and this state is also not considered auspicious for marriage.

In the year 2024, from 17 September to 02 October, Shraddh will be held and at this time marriage is considered prohibited.

Holashtak is during the period from 06 March to 14 March 2024.

In the year 2024, from 11 November to 15 November, Bhishma Panchak will be in which marriage is forbidden.

In many parts of north India, it is not auspicious to get married chaturmasya. Marriages cannot be done from shukla ekadashi of asadh maas till purnima of kartik maas.
