Festival in the Month of Margashirsha : Margashirsha Sankranti 2023, 16th November

Kaal Bhairava Ashtami, 16th November 2023

Ashtami of Krishna Paksha, Margsheersh month is called Bhairava Ashtami. On this day Kaal Bhairav is worshipped. Observing fast for full day and then worshipping Kaal Bhairava gives auspicious results.


Utpanna Ekadashi Fast, 20th November 2023

Ekadashi of Margsheersh Krishna Paksha is known by the name of Utpanna Ekadashi. Observing this Ekadashi frees the person of all his sins done by mistake. The devotee gets peace and happiness in this life as well as in his life after death in heaven. In this fast Lord Shri Krishna is worshipped. The person observing this fast should not consume food after mid of the previous night of the day when the fast is to be observed. In the morning Sun is worshipped at the time of its rise with flowers, Water, Dhoop and Akshatra. The main thing to keep in mind is that only fruits are offered as sacrament on this day.


Margsheersh Amavasya, 23rd November, 2023

Margsheersh Amavasya is also called Aghan Amavasya. This Amavasya is considered to be of equal importance to that of Kartik Amavasya. On this day, worshipping Goddess Laxmi is considered auspicious. In addition, bath and donations are also performed on this day. On this Amavasya, ancestors are worshipped and Pind-Dan is performed.


Panchak Begins 29th November 2023

Panchak of Shukla Paksha, Margasheersh month will begin from 29th November at 19:51. and will end at 30:16 on 3rd December. Marriage and other auspicious works should be avoided during this period as it is not considered good for any auspicious works.


Mokshada Ekadashi, 4th/5th December 2023

The Ekasdashi of Shukla Paksha, Margasheersh month is called Mokshada Ekadashi. Ekadashi fast is observed to please Lord Vishnu. There is a belief that observing this fast reduces the obstacles in path of attaining salvation and increases its chances. The person observing this fast should recite Vishnu Stotra and do Jagaran.


There is also a belief that observing this fast yields results more then the fruits of many Yajna. Observing Mokshada Ekadashi fast with all its rules; worshipping Lord Vishnu and donating as per your capability frees the person from all his sins.


Moreover, Geeta Jayanti(Birth of Geeta) is also on this day so Shrimad Bhagwad Gita should be worshipped with flowers and then its verses should be chanted.


Trayodashi Fast, 5th December 2023

Observing Trayodashi fast pleases Lord Bhole Nath and he showers his blessings on his devotee. This fast brings infinite results for the devotee. Moreover, falling of Pradosh fast on this day increases its importance even more.


Shri Ganesh Chaturthi Fast, 12th/26th December 2023

Lord Ganesh is worshipped to gain the auspiciousness of the Chaturthi(fourth) date. According to astrology, Siddhi Vinayaka Shri Ganesha is the Lord of the Chaturthi date. Although Lord Ganesha is worshipped before all the Gods but worshipping him and observing fast on this day gives the most auspicious results.


This fast fulfills all the wishes and removes the problems of life. On this day, chanting Ganesha Stotra and then worshipping him with all the rituals is considered auspicious.
