Shri Ganesh (Bahula) Chaturthi Fast: 15th September 2023

Ganesh Chaturthi fast will be observed on the fourth date of Bhadrapad month, Krishna Paksha. On this day Lord Ganesh is worshipped with Laddus and Durwas. The person observing this fast gets blessed and all his wishes are fulfilled. Lord Ganesh is worshipped first of all the Gods.


This fast is observed for life-partner, child, wealth and all other wishes to get fulfilled. In addition, the importance of this fast increases for people facing health or monetary problems.


Shri Krishna Janmashtami Fast: 18th/19th August 2023

The incarnation of Shree Krishna was on Bhadrapad Krishna Ashtami date, According to the Panchang, these combinations are not formed every year. Due to this, whatever combinations are formed in the midnight of the Bhadrapad Ashtami(eighth), keeping those in mind, the fast of Shri Krishna Janmashtami is observed.


Two Mats are popular for observing the fast of Shri Krishna Janmashtami fast.


Shri Krishna Janmashtami (Samart):

According to one of the mat, people should observe fast on the day of Shri Krishna birth but according to another, people should observe the fast of Janmashtami and celebrate on the next day of Shri Krishna’s birth day.


First Mat is followed in Punjab, Himachal, Jammu-Kashmir, Haryana, Delhi etc. and is in tradition since many years. The people observe fast and celebrate in the midnight when Saptami ends and Ashtami begins.


Shri Krishna Janmashtami (Vaishnav):

In Mathura, Vrindavan and other places of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra etc., the birthday is celebrated during rising Ashtami and will be celebrated. During this period, fast resolution may be taken and Japs may be performed.


Aja Ekadashi Fast: 23rd August 2023

In an year, there may be only 24 Ekadashis and the year having Adhimasa may have maximum 26 Ekadashis. The Bhadrapad Krishna Paksha Ekadashi is also called Prabodhini, Jaya, Kamini and Aja Ekadashi. In Ekadashi, observing fast, meditating God, Jagaran, and chanting Vishnu Stotras yields auspicious results.


Haritalika Tritiya, Gauri Teej: 30th August 2023

Haritalika fast is observed with faith on Tritiya of Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha. This fast is observed by the women. In Gauri Teej, fruits are not consumed and is observed without water. In this fast, the family of Lord Shiva(Shiv, Parvati and Ganesh) is worshipped.


Padma Ekadashi: 6th/7th July 2023

The Ekadashi of Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha is called Padma Ekadashi. Ekadashi fast is considered to be of equal benefits to that of donating many cows. On this day, fast is observed, Padma is made from five colours and Lord Vishnu is worshipped.
